The education system here seems way below the average. When i was in school back on the east coast. I learned about stuff like American and European History. But seems in Hawai'i i didn't learn much of anything.

Makes me wonder what they even teaching in schools in Hawai'i.

One time i mentioned the country Wales and Welsh language and a teacher in hawaii thought i meant whales. *facedesk*

Depends where on the island you live. Kaiser or Kalani is probably going to be better than Farrington or Waianae.

Also to some extent you get out of school what you put into it.

You can also see why the most affluent of islanders put their kids in private school.

Public schools in general are complete garbage because they pander to the lowest performing students, they’ll lower the standards and quality so no one gets their feelings hurt, rather than raise the quality of instruction. Not to mention the “teachers” these universities are producing these days (see someone who should’ve become a barista) is a total joke.

It’s really 100% about genetics and parental involvement, nothing else. Inner city schools which are “terrible” still have many brilliant kids, same goes for schools in the middle of Kenya built out of old tool sheds in the jungle, and the opposite is true of schools which are said to be excellent... they can produce a ton of duds.

That said, they do seems to be lousy on average in Hawaii, but let’s not ignore some potential genetic disadvantages here either. If I had kids they’d certainly be in private school no matter where I was

Perhaps you can expand on the genetic disadvantages in Hawaii.

Curious minds want to know.

Hawaii called 'least intelligent' state in analysis

There are many more articles like that one, I highly doubt Hawaii routinely ranking at or near the bottom is a result of a poor school system in the state. Of course lousy schools aren’t going to help the situation...

Ok, interesting article - although I don't think it shows any link with genetics it does confirm what many already know, there are a lot of dumb people in Hawaii - and in my opinion, is due to poor public schools.
