Hi!....Has anyone know how is the Youngstown, Oh Greyhound bus station?. Safe, clean, active, taxi's around. I was told that its the closet location to get to newtown falls,oh from Port authority in ny. How good are the taxi people to get to destinations because mine is a odd one but its what my son sent to me: bsc bs lv, newton falls.oh...no street name just a number 102000. Is it accurate that from youngstown is a 20min ride to newton?. Is it expensive?.

I don't know anything about the bus station, but I doubt there will be taxis waiting, I'm thinking you would have to call someone. Newton Falls is in fact 20-25 minutes from Youngstown.

To clarify, there are taxis, but you probably have to call for them to pick you up.

What is BCS BS LV?

I've never been to the Greyhound station, but it's right on W Federal St Downtown, one of the safest parts of the city. I don't think it's that busy of a station, so I can't imagine taxis idling there waiting for passengers.

There aren't many taxis in Youngstown, and they are expensive! I only have one experience with taxis in Youngstown and here it is: This past New Year's I was downtown with a couple other people. My friend's apartment is just north of Downtown (on Elm, south of Wick Park for those of you familiar). It was late and cold, and we really didn't want to walk back. We got in a cab (they actually had a couple outside the bars on W federal waiting for people) and the driver wanted $45 for the 5-minute, 1.5 mile drive to my friend's place. I told him I'd give him $20, but he said he couldn't do it. Needless to say we got out, slammed the door shut and made the trek back on foot.

Hopefully you have more luck with a cab than I did. Maybe they are cheaper during the day time.

I've taken a cab home from downtown several times. (almost 2 miles, over on the west side) It was never more than $6.50, but was never on New Year's, either. It sounds like they were trying to gouge you.

Independent Taxi, the company I used, is just a few doors down from the station. If you're going to use them, I'd call in advance to be sure they understand where you're going. You don't want to show up and have them say "sorry, we can't help you."

As for safety, it's like any Greyhound station, keep an eye on your bags, or they might walk away. This is especially true if you arrive on a weekday during the day. The Greyhound station is also the local bus station (WRTA) and you get local riders hanging around waiting for their next bus, buying passes, loitering,() etc.

Wow! That seems a lot more reasonable and in-line with cab prices in other cities. Glad my situation was an anomaly.

I think Independent Taxi is the best option. They seem to have the largest fleet. I agree that you need to call in advance to make sure they can take you where you need to go.

wow $45 for 5 mins you sure you wasn't to slammed to understand lol j/k... i rode plenty and never that much i paid $30 from North side to Niles and that's about 15 miles. But to answer the original question yes the bus station is safe, i never had a problem there and just call a taxi in advance.
