Attention all Ohio why do we think we need casino's here?
I used to live near a few of them as well. Personally its very pointless to have em here, when you have people who can't afford to even feed there own children, or pay there own rent or even a house note, ect thats a real concern of mine as well. I also once lived in one of the poorest parts of the country as well, thats Clarksdale Ms/ Tunia Ms as well just outside of the Memphis area as well. I have see first hand what the casinos do not only to familys but also to people and there lives as well. Also what really then also saddends me is this, ask your self this question then if your for the casinos your selves or what not then why is it that Clarksdale Ms as well as even the Tunica area alone has a average grade of a F in there so called school systems then if the casino's then are so great, why is it that there are so many fatherless kids as well, Iam not at all saying its because of the casion's eather but yet thats only part of the problem. If ya whould like to see first hand on this situation at hand take a bus down there to southren Ms because by the time when you get back home or what not you will then quickly change your mind. I also have seen homes down there sell as much as even twelve thousand dollars and less about eight thousand dollars as well, all because of very very bad choices as well and the casinos just add more to the problem instead of fixing it. Also ask any person why he or she can't also pay for dippers on his or her child its not that hard to understand it because of the casinos, that can be a very big part of it as well as many other things as well added to the crazy messed up stuff as it is, more drugs more gangs and also more break up's in the homes and also in the lives of people, this is something that the casinos won't tell ya, they whould rather take money as it is from the already poor folks as it is. I saw right ware a guy on doctor Phill a few months ago ware a father had played away his life away BIG time his child collage funds his childrens life saveings and more and this is what Ohio wants to do, to make things worse the father was also liven in his car because of his on going casino problem, to think Ohio has a few people who want this please tell me what good has ever come out of a situation like that but yet we lose are familys because of this matter, O!! one more thing is this its the choices that we all make to eather game are lives away or help change familys and also bring familys back together because of this serious problem with in the home, to all who dono't believe in the casinos God bless you for keeping it togther even through the tough stuff.

ironmanpete,, i have to respond to your comments.. first off, i dont gamble much but i should have the right if i want to. i dont like goverment, special interest groups, religious fanatics, or you , telling me how to live my life. im an adult, free and live in america, i think i can make my own decisions... second, (my opinion) i dont give a rats ass about the backasswards state of missisippi. you had those problems way before gambling came along... and for the record (my opinion again), northeast ohio has wanted gambling for years, and only 4-5 counties out of 88 in the state voted yes.... so now the folks who always voted no want a casino in the middle of nowhere down in clinton county ?!? i propose each city or county decide for themselves if they want gambling. why does the state get to decide what each city does ??? i will now vote no, until cleveland/northeast ohio have the same chance to build them.

The big bad casinos aren't strong arming people into gambling all their money away. People who chose to gamble instead of buying diapers for their kids are stupid. Like watertiger said, Mississippi had problems before casinos. If irresponsible people can't spend their money on gambling, irresponsible people will spend it on lottery tickets or something else besides their kids.

Ironman, I will not have pitty on southern Mississippi, or anyone else for that matter who lives in their car because they gamble too much. You are what you make yourself to be. If people quit blaming "the man" for all the problems out there and accept responsibility for their own lives, they would not be in the predicaments that they are in.

I think if you want casinos at all in Ohio, you should vote for the measure. There is a reason they are going for a one casino proposal this time, and that is because a proposal for multiple casinos throughout Ohio was defeated just two years ago. With this single casino proposal, every county in Ohio will get a cut of the proceeds based on population so everyone benefits.

That and once one casino is open, and Ohio's rednecks/Bible thumpers realize that casinos aren't the devil, maybe they will open more of them. But I think the one casino proposal is the right move this time around to convince Ohio. Don't let North/South state rivalry cloud your judgement.

There is a casino 20 minutes from downtown Cincinnati and two more a short drive away. Hamilton County voted for OH casinos because we are tired of seeing our money go to the state of Indiana.

Plus, we don't need a nanny state.

AMEN, Cincy-Rise! I may never set foot in a casino again. But I'm an adult and gambling is adult entertainment. Adults are old enough to decide how to spend their entertainment. We don't need the government OR some misguided "community values" groups telling us how to spend our money OR our free time. (If we were to use the logic of "Someone may get hurt or something bad might happen"; we should immediately ban NASCAR because drivers get hurt and killed...)

Iron Man. Paragraphs are your friend. You may or may not have a point. The random, run-on paragraph makes you look incoherent.

I always wondered about the no casinos thing when people would just go to Casino Windsor "back in the day"

I would vote no also this time. One casino in farm country should be one casino for each major metro area. One in the middle of nowhere is irrelevant.

Ya... Ohioans needs to continue to vote against the casino industry developing in this State. OH obviously doesn't need the revenue nor the tax dollars not to mention the additional decent jobs. It is a super rich state that has more money and jobs than they know what to do with.... NOT.

I guess all the surrounding states to OH that have gambling are going to be reduced to the MS standards of life and enjoy in the very same problems all because they have gambling, additional jobs and more revenue to deal with (much of which comes from Ohioans) ?!!

Ironmanpete, see if you can muster up a post the includes resources that show how gambling is the main reason for the demise of a specific "area". I am very interested in how that works. And maybe get some help with your grammar altogether before posting your reply as touched upon above.
