I remember working at the Route 66 Museum and what surprised me the most were the tourists (German tourists) who would rent motorcycles and ride the Mother Road.

Personally, I think it is people who have no roots here that seem to be among the most hateful. Some of us have family and cultural history go back beyond statehood.

When I moved back to Tulsa Oklahoma in 1988 to 1990 I remember riding the mother Road a million time back and forth from Tulsa to Oklahoma City back to Tulsa. Man oh man that's the only way to see Oklahoma.

I wonder what constitutes a "real city" and what standards a place must meet to achieve that status? (Serious Question).

It's arbitrary, depends on how burned out the complainer is lol

OKC is what it is, I don't think they pretend to be NYC or anything close.

We made the trip on Route 66 from Los Angeles to Oklahoma about 20 times back in the 1960s. We never ever stayed in a motel. Not once! We'uns was po folks.

Saying OKC was not a "real city" was just a feeble attempt at putting it down. But let the poster clarify what constitutes a "real city."

Never made all of 66 and now the bikes are gone for good ....

Let's try and see:
Neiman Marcus outlet
Happy hour 24/7/7 with half off drinks
Totally walkable
No jobs under 100k
Low COL
No Republicans
Temps in the 70-75 range year long
LGBT preferred
......

That's a good start.......

I seem to remember that OKC's electronic music scene wasn't up to snuff and there weren't enough bars downtown. Oh yeah, and we don't have a large enough dense urban district. That and the fact that we tore down a lot of the old downtown probably are other reasons we aren't a "real" city.

If you're not poor but want to move to Oklahoma, bear in mind the main reason why Oklahoma is the way it is comes from the fact that it was required to enter the union as a dry state in 1907 and has been trying to get over it ever since.

Hopefully, Oklahoma can overthrow its backward Republican government by electing a Democrat for governor in November. But I doubt that will happen if most voters feel they have been doing just fine in Oklahoma, assuming they feel moved enough to vote at all.

Just so we understand more booze does not make people more happy or more prosperous.

I think Oklahoma should be competing with other states to attract all of the tent village homeless people from California. We should "treat those people right" haha
