It would appear that even if OKC punches below it's weight.................Tickets to the boxing match are cheap.

I can see OKC being a stop for foreign travelers who want to see things like the Cowboy museum and the stockyards. Other than that, it's pretty much a pass-through town, an excuse to stop for gas and a bathroom break on your way to somewhere else.

I have the feeling that very few of the posters here actually took vacations/staycations in OK.

I'd say that OKC gets some tourism from the Bombing and probably quite a bit from Route 66ers. But as you said, probably short stays. But I assume most people go on Vacation in search of weather, mountains, water or entertainment mecca type places. OKC really doesn't have that. For people who would come to an OKC type place it's just too close to Dallas. Might as well go there than OKC for all the extra stuff they have there.

But we did have the fellow on here that came all the way down here from Iowa/Wisconsin to see a Thunder game.

OKC might rank high on some formula index, but I have to admit that I do not see it as much of a vacation destination.

You might say, "it's a nice place to live, but I wouldn't want to visit there" haha

Other more scenic places in OK do seem more worthwhile. I know that a lot of Texans come to Oklahoma for outdoors activities, which Oklahoma scores pretty high on in some ways, better than North Texas.

Alright my brother...

Right on ...Right on ...

No foul no harm no injury and most of all no rolling eyes... as an African American male who left Oklahoma in 1976 I can identify with your burning passion and motivation to get out of Oklahoma as soon as possible.

I was actually in much more dire situations than you ever could imagine .... I had bottles thrown at my head ....Bricks throne at my head.... I was hit over the head by a 2 by 4 but yet I was able to replace Tulsa Oklahoma and. OKC and the state of Oklahoma for that matter with the cities and places that I went to which were better.

Oklahoma City Oklahoma is to be compliment because it did not accept the status quo , but rised... above its former self and became the greater more impressive City that it is today.... it is better for a man or a woman to convert their enemies into friends , than to have life-long enemies....

By the way comparing San Francisco to Oklahoma city as far as its cost of living is like comparing Apples to Pineapples not oranges to beer... laughing out loud falling out of my chair.....

P.S. the median price of a house in San Francisco is 1 million $600,000 per house.....LOL you get what you pay for....LOL...

Takes about 15 minutes to see the Stockyards, 45 minutes at the Cowboy Museum and you can be on your way by 10:30 a.m.
