Oklahoma seems to be the national hotspot. Do you think there will be a cascade of growth that DFW has seen in the last 15 years? The two areas have a lot in common, and great central location.

We hope not......that is why we try to be as obnoxious as possible. Hopefully we can scare off lots of the immigrants......encourage them to move to KC or DFW instead..........

I think some growth would be good for the city and state. Too much and you start attracting more bottom feeders.

Yeah...OKC is in a full blown renaissance and is an up and coming city for a variety of reasons. The NBA and a proposed skyscraper that will be taller
than anything in Dallas and almost Texas in 4 yrs. puts OKC on the map.
We are looking pretty good right now. Our energy companies just need to hold on while the economy is down.

It may require current growth in the OKC metro area to keep Oklahoma from losing another congressman after the 2010 census.

The KC metro had way too much growth, and that is one of the reasons why I left...

Kansas is more likely to lose a rep compared with Oklahoma. Take a trip to northwest Kansas and you will see many half abandoned towns.

A good example of too much growth in OKC is Chesapeake, which is one of the largest energy companies in the US. The organization quickly built a huge campus and bought a lot of buildings along Western Ave. (a popular entertainment area). Many of these buildings have been destroyed for all types of retail etc. Lots of big time future plans for great development has gone south because of the recent economic crisis. Current news has the company coming back up, but many of the projects will not go forward for a couple of years.

I wouldn't say OKC is a national hotspot. OKC still has a negative image (which is a good thing to keep them east coasters outta here!). The NBA is a nice jump but in my opinion isn't that much of a big deal, especially the way we got them. But OKC definitely is still in it's renaissance era with the new Devon Tower (which needs to hurry up and get started), much downtown development and many other things. But OKC still has a very far way to go to be like DFW. But yea OKC is booming and hopefully will continue to boom with positive and attractive things.
