These people are despicable. I do, however, defend their right to free speech. Denying that right would set a dangerous precedent.

Debbie, what do you mean by this?

Hopefully, the Supreme Court will rule against them soon.

Snyder v. Phelps -
Case reached the Supreme Court back in October.
"...privacy rights of grieving families with the free speech rights of demonstrators..."

Perhaps some people who had enough of them should join their protests holding up random funny signs like *I am holding a sign* etc etc.. Perhaps dressing in pink fancy undies might work too.

The case against the Phelps is weak because the grieving man who was upset about them came across their protest on the day of the funeral on a web page and so never saw them demonstrating in person.

I think laws are right where the Phelps can not demonstrate closer than a certain distance from a funeral. When the Phelps were in Stillwater several years ago they kept their disgusting American flag dragging demonstration several blocks from the funeral like they were supposed to and nothing much happened, rather than a long haired man dressed in white appearing as Jesus amongst them. That was an amusing sight.

These crazies came down to Bowlegs, Ok today to stir up trouble and protest at the funeral of 3 oklahoma teens who were tragically killed in a car wreck near Asher this week. All 3 kids were family...2 brothers, and a girl cousin.

I'm good friends with a teacher at Konowa where the girl went to school. She told me the whole area is devastated and they couldn't believe anyone would celebrate the death of kids....especially a church.

The Westboro group said that God killed these teens and will continue to kill Oklahoma children for the way they were treated in McAlester, OK a month ago while they protested the death of a fallen marine from there.

These folks are nut jobs, and I fear the day they come to McCurtain/Pushmataha county to celebrate the death of a loved one there. They'll never been seen again.

It's sickening to say the least. I hope that get what they deserve. I'd hate to be a police officer there having to protect them as the officers did in McAlester.

These people (for lack of a better word) are the craziest bunch I have heard about in a long time. Of course they do not worship. They only disturb, but what motivates them?.......unless it is just the craziness, boredom, or as someone else said......a way to make money. I believe in freedom of speech, but like all our freedoms, I was always taught they were only free as long as they didn't interfere with the freedom of others. You can't tell me that protesting at someone's funeral is not interferring with the rights of the grieving relatives and friends. They should all be locked up. Or the police should just ignore them and see what happens to them. Police officers have been known to do that without getting into trouble themselves.

They need to quit giving them protection and escorts unless they pay for it in advance (at an inflated cost of course), the tax payers shouldn't carry the burden of cost for their sorry carcases. Reroute all traffic away from them, so no one will pay any attention to them and ask the media to quit giving them any air time or attention. When they apply for the permit to protest, "allow them to protest on the outskirts of town in a deserted lot (ONLY)". And if they step one inch outside that spot, arrest their sorry cans. The cost of paying for the cops protection, escorts, permit and bail money will start to put a hurting on them sooner or later.

Then when they are outside the city limit someone can slash all their tires and leave them out stranded. And if they are flying, TSA needs to remove their signs at the airports and anything else they use in their protest. Then give them ALL a full body cavity search, pat-down and x ray, just to humiliate them like they do to everyone else. But them again, I don't know who would want to put their hands on those scanky things they call women , the nasty bunch of retards.

These fools are exactly why we need limits on free speech. I understand the sentiment of "free speech," but everything has its limits. These crazies should not have the right to abuse families grieving the worst thing that could ever happen -- the death of a loved one. Hate speech like this should be banned and get these clowns a lengthy prison sentence.

Regardless how despicable they are, they have the right to free speech. Just like you have the right to call them skanks and retards.
