It was shut down all night. Think it will make any real difference to unplug it?

Yup, we had a LOT of thunder last night, just a few little rumbles off and on this morning, far away.

I got that &^#%$^ CD to eject. Great.
Today the computer doesn't recognize anything IN the CD drive. No printer driver installed, no other things installed.

Then I did a system restor because I screwed up the colors somehow, and everything - all websites included - showed up black and white, and half of the twiddlies on webmail didn't show up. I restored it to yesterday when everything worked just fine. Should be okay, right?

Wrong. Colors are fine, but I totally lost the kindle for PC along with 15 ebooks, and I canNOT find them anywhere, and I know they were just fine yesterday and this morning.

Back to pulling hairs out and SKREECHING at the top of my lungs.
