Again, I'm not as familiar with OKC as Tulsa, but I know they do have comedy clubs. ;-) Tulsa has the BOK Center, OKC has the Ford Center, one of the two venues (or both) is guaranteed to get the really big touring acts. Both cities have medium and small venues as well, and so do places like Stillwater, for acts that can't fill or don't want to play a huge arena. Tulsa recently had Bob Dylan, and we've got Rob Zombie playing soon, so yeah, there's a variety.
I'm not as familar with the comedy tours, but I've been hearing them advertise Carlos Mencia heavily for the past couple of weeks.

Ugh carlos mencia...ugh
Heh, anyway though I guess that answers my query. Call me uninformed or what have you but I can't remember a time looking at a band/comedians schedule and waiting for them to come back from OK. Heh, either way though, it does sound as if I shouldn't really have any problems.

Well, let's see what interests you. DH and I recently saw Robin Williams at the Ford Center. My daughter saw the Jonas Bros in OKC one year and in Tulsa another year. Taylor Swift tickets went on sale for her March 31st show at the Ford Center and 30 minutes later was sold out. Boo! I really wanted to go. Brad Paisley will be here in January (I think).
AC/DC was at the Ford Center and we saw Journey, Heart and Cheap Trick at the Zoo Ampitheater summer of '08. We also saw Alan Jackson at the Ampitheater this past summer.
We had Jeff Dunham several months back, with Walter and the Dead Terrorist. We also have plays at the Civic Center and country singers at various casinos (Blake Shelton, Gretchen Wilson).
In other words, we got entertainment!!
P. S. - And I almost forgot the biggie. John Elton and Billy Joel together the day before Thanksgiving at the Ford center.

Alan Jackson sure comes back to Oklahoma to perform a lot. I've been to 3 of his Oklahoma concerts.

I am a native New York that moved here about 5 years ago. I have lived in both OKC and now Norman. I prefer OKC, there is so much more to do and its diverse.
It will take a while for you to get used to the slower pace. The people are very friendly and most will go out of the way to help you. Meat prices are so low, as well as the rents. Don't worry about tornadoes. Knock on wood, I haven't experienced one yet. Be prepared for people to bring up your accent. Overall I like Oklahoma. Downside: Politically correctness is not always practiced. I have heard statements made in meetings that made my mouth hit the floor. Religion-People will ask you what church you go to and what religion constantly.
Someone mentioned pizza. New York pizza and pasta in Norman is the best. It's like being at home. Prior to that, I ddn't find a pizza place that I liked enough to eat again.
Keep your mind and heart open. Have fun.

Yeah, there's a strong church culture in Oklahoma. It's the way many people do as a way to get out regularly and socialize with other people, being there's no significant bar culture.

Oklahoma has a little of everything. Yes, there is a large cowboy and ranch culture in Oklahoma. We have oil wells too. It is just part of what makes this state great, and people expect it when they come here. Just like I expect to see Italians and Jewish delis in New York and the Statue Of Liberty. In Cali, its' Yosemite, giant Sequoia's,the ocean and surfers types. Those are ALL just a "few" stereotypical things we expect from certain states. Thats America! I know a LOT of people here who do not own horses, or any animals. They have never lived on a ranch or a farm. They were born and raised in Oklahoma City and would never dream of living in the country. Don't assume everyone here like living in boonies and rides a horse. There are a lot of nice people here. So... come on down! It might be you like it here. If not, thats o.k. Every place is not for everyone. Either way, enjoy!

Ah, sounds good. Nice to see I'm not the only one.
How far is Norman from OKC anyway?

I usually can make it from Norman to OK City within about 20-25 minutes. If the traffic is bad (which is usually only on football days) expect somewhere around 35-45 minutes.
