Buy a vehicle you really want to spend a lot of time in and prepare to spend most of your take home pay on fuel and stress-release therapy.
Seriously, if you want to work in LA and live in OC, you'd pretty much have to have a place to live in each area. I know a few people who have done this. They live in LA during the week and go home for the weekends. The cost becomes prohibitive however and once the lease is up, it's over.

BRUTAL...is all I have to say! I have driven many a times from north San Diego, leaving at 4:45 am to drive to Malibu, and hit major traffic at the 110/405 split...roughly 6am...it STOPS and crawls to the 105. When we lived in Redondo and I worked in Westwood, and also Century City, it was a brutal drive from the South Bay. I worked flex hours, starting at 7am and I would have to leave the house no later than 6:05 to make it on time...and every 5 minutes I lagged would put me back 10 minutes! Like NoNansea said...be prepared to spend your life in your car and finding a stress-release therapy that would work for you!

RR in Westwood would be an excellent place to work providing you are willing to relocate, but no one answered in regards to if you decide to move closer to UCLA Long Beach, since that's where you'ld prefer to work, where would be a good area for you and your fiance to live.

Apply to multiple hospitals and see where you get a job. Obviously numerous people are going to be applying to UCLA Reagan due to the reputation. See if you get in first and then find housing close by. Areas of the San Fernando Valley, West L.A., and South Bay are great options to live and work at UCLA.
