It once took me me 8 HOURS to get from Santa Barbara to San Clemente on the 405 and 101. The FM Radio stations were repeating themselves so I started listening to AM now I am a Republican. THANKS LA TRAFFIC!

What day of the week and what time of day did you go? It should only take 8 hours if you go Friday afternoon rush hour.

I hate the 405, I hate it southbound til 11am, northbound after 1pm. it's a miserable freeway with nothing interesting to look at.
Anyone who thinks 5 is bad should have seen it 30 years ago.
101 out to the coast is also bad.

But I agree with above, 91 is much worse. I personally would never, ever, ever work in Orange County while living in Corona or beyond. unless I was allowed to take valium for the drive and/or shoot 1 person per day.

There were fewer lanes and they were narrower. It seemed like it was always under construction.

The worst freeway in the city is the Santa Ana Freeway section of I-5, specifically the section from 605 to the East LA Interchange. It's ****ing old, narrow as hell, and has sharp ramps and turns. The best part is, there's no room to widen it like they just did the Garden Grove Freeway. 405 has improved a bit since they widened that section it shares with SR 22 in Seal Beach, but I don't think any amount of lanes will ever solve the rush hour congestion you always see near Santa Ana and the LA airport. There simply are way too many ****ing people in this city.

ALL Ca freeways suck, it doesn't matter if your on the 405, 5, 91, 22, 57, 101, 110, 610, 705 or whatever there is traffic on all of them always.

The 405 is typically slower than surface streets... not a good thing.

Just moved out of the L.A. area. Lucky me! It was strange to see people crawling bumper to bumper in both directions on any fwy between L.A. and O.C. in the afternoon.

Only if someone could create a "job exchange" program between L.A/O.C., perhaps in a section of craigslist to relieve the congestion. Americans would be less dependent on OPEC and get to spend more time with their families if this caught on

It's a lot easier to just move somewhere else where there are jobs, no traffic, and more affordable housing.
