Can anyone tell me which of these cities (Salem, Ashland, Bend) I might like best considering these things about me:

I'm into Organics
I'm Liberal
I love Art-Deco looking cool places to dine or hang out
I love beautiful mountains and scenery
I want a small town feel, but still a cool eclectic atmosphere
I love educated people and conversations
I love Art Fairs, Craft Fairs....
I want to meet gorgeous rugged men (!)
I love a laid-back California/western type of atmosphere
I'm Spiritual, not religious, and appreciate others that feel likewise

I appreciate anyone who can help me with this. I need to decide where to move to. I'm actually comparing these cities to Salt Lake City. I LOVED it there, except for the surrounding desert. Salt Lake is so Art-Deco, and laid back....

Thanks,
Cindy

Ah, Ashland would be perfect for you. Corvallis is the next size up followed by Eugene. Ashland should be your first choice but real estate is high there. I have a couple pictures I could send of Ashland. They have a beautiful park there as well. It is a beautiful area indeed!

Yep Ashland.
You'll have to go to the outskirts for the rugged man thing. Or bring one with you.

I'd stick you in.......Sedona, Arizona, lol, but since you didn't give that choice, I'd probably go with Ashland, definately not Salem. Ashland's 'down there' where you still can get lost in the woods. More chances of finding your 'rugged man' down there I'd say. Good luck.

What about EUGENE? Eugene sounds like the best for you to be honest.

I'd say Ashland too from what I've read and heard about it. It's smaller than Eugene (more of that small town thing) with all the liberal artsy aspects but Eugene has a lot of those good qualities too and it's a small town feel (so I've heard from friends who live there and on this board) but while actually being a medium sized city. Corvallis sounds like it would be good for you too. I don't think you'd like Salem or Bend according to what you listed. As for alternative religions I've done some surveys and found that Eugene is the very best in that area second only to Portland. Eugene has cool fairs and lots of artistic qualities. Why isn't that on your list? Just curious...

Eugene does not have the beauty of mountains. Eugene is big enough to be to beltway big for her. How many rugged mountain men can be found in Eugene? I would put Corvallis ahead of Eugene and Ashland is the shoe that will fit her sized foot best.

Huh? Eugene does have mountains around, and the beautiful hills are visible. Aside from the population maybe being too large for her, I think it fits here completely. Perhaps she could find her 'rugged mountain' men over the 5 freeway, in Springfield.

Well, on my aeronautical chart there is a small 3,336-foot mountain about 20 miles Northwest of Mahlon Sweet airport. There is another small mountain 3,166 feet 15 miles Northeast of the Eugene airport. By contrast, 5,000-foot peaks encircle Ashland. For the most part, the Willamette Valley is flat when compared to Roseburg, Grants Pass, and Ashland.
