One of things I have found most interesting is that allot of the history is slanted or one sided. Of course we know that those who come out on top in history are the ones that get to write it. Oregon has allot of hidden history that is only touched on and, when I was going to school, Oregon history was from the perspective of the immigrants.
Myself, being part Modoc, I wanted to view this from their perspective, but there is very little written about this, just a few books. The information contained in these books paints a whole different picture of what was really going on and the abuses that followed. I think that if one wants to get a complete picture of Oregon history one views it from all sides.
