There are some on this thread that have posted many times, doing nothing but complaining about "complainers". How helpful is that?

Default Lived 30 years up north, never "braced". What is that?

So while our summers last a month or 2 longer than those up north, we have the rest of the year to enjoy. People up north may have a pleasant September & October, but concurrently they are bracing for a long, cold, and dreary winter. Likewise, when it finally warms up and May is nice, they are bracing for a June-August that rivals Florida's. I'll take the long stretch of heat without having to look forward to months of gray skies and ice.
Lived up north for 30 years. Lived in Florida 14 full time years. Moved back north. There is something to be said for having 4 distinct seasons. I am enjoying the pool now and golfing because it's summer. Looking forward to a break from the summer and hiking through the mountains (which FL does not have) and breathing in some cooler air which is refreshing after 3 months of summer. Leaves all shades of colors is a bonus in Fall. Not sure what bracing for winter is. I will have my ski's tuned so I can hit the slopes with the first good snowfall. Will put fresh gas in the snowmobile to be ready for day long adventure trips. Firewood delivered to enjoy an after dinner drink by the fireplace. Come on snow.

Just when I've had my fill of winter I will get my bike tuned. Love to bike in spring in the morning when the air is still real cool. Actually have some hills to go up and down, unlike the uninspiring flat same old terrain in FL.

I'm glad to know that if I ever get to the point that I no longer have the desire to get out and enjoy my surroundings, I can always move back to FL and take up a new hobby. I can complain about complainers and still complain about snow even though I live in Florida. Oh no. Did I just complain about people who complain about complainers?

We may not have mountains, but we certainly have a break from summer which includes cool air.

Just to name a few:

And I think we all know that way more preparation and work goes into bracing for winter than that.

If you thought I was complaining about complainers then you are wrong. I was supporting someone else's conclusion about complainers .

About as helpful as those who complain about everything.

If you don't like the weather, the bugs, the people, the landscape, the geography, or anything else in FL please make a quick exit out so
that life can be what you want it where you want it. Basically, end the suffering. We all know its hot in FL.

bracing for winter is making sure you have the good tires on the car for snow/ice, the bag of rock salt/ ice melt for the porch so you or a friend/ family member doesn't bust their ass on the front porch, and yes , this has happened to me and a family member more than once, thank god they didn't get hurt so we laugh about it. bracing for winter is getting your winter coats out and dusted off because you will be freezing your ass off very soon. lived in Orlando for ten years, lived in PA the last 20, i think i wanna give the next ten or twenty to FLA. i'll tell you what tho, those PA Autumns do kick ass! beautiful. the snow is nice too but after the first couple falls i just want it to go away, especially when January comes.

After 50+ days of below freezing weather in Ohio last winter I am glad to be in Florida.

No more having to hire a tractor to get us out of our driveway.

We can always head up to the mountains for a long weekend or vacation but we cannot always be so close to the ocean you can smell it and cannot wait to get back to it.

We are moving to Florida in the not too distant future. We are looking forward to cooler summers and warmer winters. Yes you read that correctly COOLER summers. I am currently living in South Carolina. Our average high temperature for the past couple of weeks have been in the 100 degree range. (101 - 109). We had some record setting temps. Orlando's averages have been in the low 90 degree range. (91-92) Our average lows were in the mid thirties last year and Orlando's was in the mid to upper 50's. My arthritis is tired of the cold. LOL. So we are moving. We do not have "grass is greener expectations." We do expect to find more to do. So we are looking forward to the move.

You should have "the good tires" on your car all the time whether in PA or FL, not save them for bracing whatever that is. In PA the required state inspections make it more likely you will have good tires. The next time you walk into the grocery store in Florida, take a look at the tires some of the other drivers you share the road with are using. They must be bracing. Bald tires with the wire starting to show, some a different size than the others. You can drive anything down a Florida road. The blinding summer downpours in Florida that happen suddenly where it's difficult to see anything and cars are pulling over or hydroplaning while you are traveling on I-75 or I-95 at 70mph are just as treacherous to drive in as a snowstorm.

I've lived in PA an FL for long periods of time also. You mentioned winter coats. I can go skiing when it's 10 degrees below 0 and I'm warm as can be for 8 hours outside. When I was in FL and it was 90 degrees and 90% humidity, there isn't any thing you can wear or take off to stay cool. After 2 minutes outside you need a shower. 6-9 months of that a year, nice.

I will admit, when someone starts falling down a lot in PA, moving to FL would be a good move if that corrects the problem. Or you could just buy a helmet.

I lived there for three years, enjoyed my time there, but moved, and now realize I really missed having four seasons. And the bugs...yuck! Also, other reasons why I left, Florida is just so far away when you are from the west. No mountians...just not me. I thought I would like the beach, but living there is not the same as being on vacation.

As somebody who lived in cooler and hotter Spartanburg, Fl is a breeze (no pun intended).
