Or not sit in traffic and take the 417 if you're going from Lake Mary to anywhere around Aloma Avenue (426). The 417 is a toll road which many in this area are allergic to, but will save you some time and gas. It's $2.00 each way from Lake Mary to Aloma Avenue.

Yup. 436 has to rival international drive as one of the worst congested roads in the metro area. At least I-4 doesn't have stoplights every ten feet along with the congestion

Bear in mind the stories you hear about bad traffic are from those who have never lived in a large city (which Orlando isn't). Rush hour lasts about an hour here versus three hours in major cities, and our traffic jams range over a few miles versus many times that. It's all about what one is accustomed to.

I routinely encounter annoying traffic on 436 on all days at any hour. It's a heavily traveled road with tons of stoplights. It is what it is

I wasn't referring to your mention of SR 436, I agree it is heavily traveled and annoying. My reference was to the overall opinion of what constitutes bad traffic. For those that have moved from big cities, traffic in this area is nothing in comparison. It's all in the context of one's prior experiences as to what really is considered "bad traffic".

Yes totally true. Consider that rush hour in southwest CT backups 27 miles Southbound in the morning and Northbound at night and lasts about 3 hours, not to mention accidents or Holiday weekends, Orlando does not have traffic. There is some backup but at least it's moving and doesn't go on for miles and miles.

The thing that I found here, is that the local roads like 436 will take you a predicted amount of time, say 40 minutes. If you're OK with that, then take it. There will be a ton of traffic lights, but it's predictable. I-4 probably not because there are accidents from time to time, but not lights. It's up to you really.

Thanks for the info, without the floridians, I would not know the difference between the roads..yep I would rather be on the freeway without annoying traffic lights.
