Back in the spring of (I'm pretty sure)1967, there was a tune entitled Last Exit to Brooklyn, almost certainly a reference to Hubert Selby's gritty novel of working-class life in the tradition of Nelson Algren and Piri Thomas. The vocalist sounded a lot like the late Gene Pitney, who did a lot of movie themes; trouble is, according to imdb.com, no feature film was made of this book until 1989.
Can anybody fill in the blanks here?
