I did whack it. Nothing happened. Im about to just unplug it for awhile.
I'd let it go until morning. But fill the jugs or pans whatever you have with water and put mostly in freezer to freeze! It will make a difference in how long it can shut down . But, if it truly never turns the compressor of it has to be the thermostat sticking.
Ok..i turned the fridge off & waited a few mins & turned back on & only the freezer fan is running. Any ideas ?
Well...you know it's possible you don't hear the compressor cut off or mistake fans for it. It can still be the thermostat. Just because you can manually turn it off doesn't mean the temp sensitive mechanism is working.
Im pretty sure its the thermostat & i hate to spoil the food i have in the fridge if i turn it off all night. Im really screwed here.
Well if nothing much has changed around the time it started acting up ...it probably is. Still...you don't want to run one near empty.. I'd still keep jugs of water in it. If you try to get by unplugging it over night. Things in the freezer would normally be fine for a few hours. But since you have so little in it there's nothing to hold the cold. You can probably maintain the food in fridge longer by moving into the freezer ... Good luck.
Ill stick water jugs in my freezer. I dont like to shop all at once cause sometimes the markets have some good sales weekly. Yesterday i bought a huge sub (stater bros) with 1 lb meat (ham, roastbeef, turkey), cheese & all the toppings for $7.00. That lasts me 3 days or so. I also drink alot of cold country time lemonade. Thanks for all your advice. So far this year has sucked for me but im sure the electric company will be glad.
Ok...in the past 6 hrs i have used 2 kwh. 2x4=8 kwh daily x 30 days=240 kwh a month = about $25.00 a month to just run the fridge. Screw it.....ill do without. The avg fridge runs around $10.00 month. The fridge is still running since my last post.
My # 1 rule is never watch the meter or watch the fridge. Frost frees run most of the time. The compressor running and cooling. The freezer fan running most of the time. It defrosts automatically every approx 8 hours. The cooler you keep the trailer and cleaner you keep the condenser the less it has to run. If your door gaskets are bad (not sealing well) that could add to your problem. Keep freezer stocked or full of bottles of ice. Good luck have a great Independence day. If you don't keep a lot get one of those little fridges under a hundred dollars. Keeping your trailer cooler will do you and the fridge good.
Whirlpool refrigerators suck. Stop opening and closing the door, that isn't helping. Just let it run and see what happens tomorrow, unless there isn't enough food in there worth saving.
