Things are getting hectic here as we prepare to take Miss J to Paris at the weekend.
Mrs J and I will be staying there for a few days and I'm just renewing our annual travel insurance policy.
I don't know if any of you carry such policies but as you get older the cost does start to go upwards!
My POTD is related to any insurance costs that start to creep upwards with age, though I have to say that our car insurance these days is very reasonable.
Very costly these days especially health and property insurance.
What's so ironic about this is that the insurance companies issue us policies betting against the odds that nothing catastrophic will happen to us or our possessions, while we're buying these policies betting that they will.
Great photos, Jezer, thanks for sharing... wasn't aware there was an English Civil War, will have to read up on that!
.
Great photos, Jezer. That castle is hauntingly beautiful.
I've never bought travel insurance, but I assume that covers you for any health problems you may have when you're out of the country. Health insurance gets more expensive with age because insurers assume that you are going to be more prone to illnesses and chronic conditions.
When I retired at 58 and lost my company-paid health insurance, I was lucky to be able to stay on the company plan but pay my own premiums. But learned to my shock that the premium was going to morethandouble -- just because I had retired early! The rep told me that insurance companies assume that if you retire early, you must be in bad health. I couldn't believe how much I had to pay. By the time I turned 65 and qualified for Medicare, I was shelling out more than $1300 a month for medical and dental coverage, and that was just for me alone. What a racket!
Outstanding pictures Jezer I know house and car insurance in Canada are extremely high and we always shop around ,compare, but you can't win and they know it. Jezer have a save and good trip to France
There are lots of advantages to aging but this isn't one of them, especially life insurance. I've had a policy for about 14 years with the same company and the cost hasn't gone up yet but I suspect it will the older I get. But at least, like you said Jezer, the car insurance goes down the older your car gets and like me it's getting some age on it. Too bad we can't get "safe living" discounts on life insurance!
