Good morning peevers.

Things are getting hectic here as we prepare to take Miss J to Paris at the weekend.

Mrs J and I will be staying there for a few days and I'm just renewing our annual travel insurance policy.

I don't know if any of you carry such policies but as you get older the cost does start to go upwards!

My POTD is related to any insurance costs that start to creep upwards with age, though I have to say that our car insurance these days is very reasonable.

The POTD is;

Cost of insurance policies.

I'm having to go through old photos at the moment, though as from next week there will be a whole new set to choose from!

In the meantime I am showing shots taken of and around Old Wardour Castle in my home County of Wiltshire. At least they were taken in June- June 2009.

The place was besieged and destroyed in the English Civil War of the 1640s.

The POTD is; Cost of insurance policies.

Very costly these days especially health and property insurance.

What's so ironic about this is that the insurance companies issue us policies betting against the odds that nothing catastrophic will happen to us or our possessions, while we're buying these policies betting that they will.

Great photos, Jezer, thanks for sharing... wasn't aware there was an English Civil War, will have to read up on that!

I wonder what the buildings insurance on Old Wardour Castle would be like?

Great photos, Jezer. That castle is hauntingly beautiful.

I've never bought travel insurance, but I assume that covers you for any health problems you may have when you're out of the country. Health insurance gets more expensive with age because insurers assume that you are going to be more prone to illnesses and chronic conditions.

When I retired at 58 and lost my company-paid health insurance, I was lucky to be able to stay on the company plan but pay my own premiums. But learned to my shock that the premium was going to more than double -- just because I had retired early! The rep told me that insurance companies assume that if you retire early, you must be in bad health. I couldn't believe how much I had to pay. By the time I turned 65 and qualified for Medicare, I was shelling out more than $1300 a month for medical and dental coverage, and that was just for me alone. What a racket!

Have a great time in France, Jezer, and a wonderful time getting there and coming home.

Insurance: We have to have it but outrageous premiums can rob us blind.

I've had a policy for about 14 years with the same company and the cost hasn't gone up yet but I suspect it will the older I get. But at least, like you said Jezer, the car insurance goes down the older your car gets and like me it's getting some age on it. Too bad we can't get "safe living" discounts on life insurance!

Good peeve, Jezer. Not only is the cost so high but when one actually has a claim so many companies jack up the rate even higher.

Incredible pictures, Jezer. Would be amazing to be surrounded by so much history.

Cost of insurance policies.

We checked on Long-term care insurance awhile back, talk about being shocked at the cost.
