Good morning peevers.

I have a friend who always seems to have misfortune happen to her or her family.

I sometimes dread phoning her for fear of what the latest thing is. If I listed the things that have happened to that family you'd think I was making things up. I wish I was.

Many of these things are freak accidents, one of the latest being that a local farmer has severed the main gas supply to the village and they are all shivering away with no means of cooking or using the boiler. Another was a fire in the restaurant below where one of the sons was residing and he escaped in what he was standing in around Christmas last year.

However there are times when she doesn't think, like when she told me that she was going to drive to see a relative in a particular part of the Country- she had been unable to go two weeks ago because her car was rear ended and written off. (Really, I'm not making this up.)

The thing is that where she is aiming to go has been hit by the ongoing floods and she had no idea. It's been all over the news

Look before you leap, I say.

So the POTD is;

People not taking basic steps to ensure their own safety.

Here's a piccie of a gorgeous house in one of my favourite locations, the Cathedral Close in Salisbury. The house is called Arundels and was for a while the residence of the by then former Prime Minister Sir Edward Heath.

I believe that it may well be going up for sale.

Guess I'd better buy a lottery ticket, maybe in that big rollover in the US!

This place is also in the Close- I can't remember if I've posted it before. It is open to the public as it is a National Trust property, and again is lovely;

Unfortunately there are a lot of people who don't think before doing something that's just asking for trouble. Back when I was young and stupid did that plenty of times.

Great pictures!

I am normally a fairly cautious person, however I've been known to pull a brainless act or two in my life. I do feel badly for your friend though. I've had my fair share of bad things that were not of my making and it sure can make life a real challenge. Major Bummer!

Beautiful pics again Jezer! I really do look forward to seeing what you will post each day! My lovely vacations of the mind. I do thank you for that my friend! You always manage to take the most wonderful pics, and those pics take me to far away places that I can only dream of!
YOU are the real treasure Jezer! The lottery could never outshine you!!!

Well said....we see that all the time on 'Americas Funniest Home Videos'. It kinda bothers me a bit, that people think its funny when another gets hurt, and I personally dont see whats so funny about it. Maybe Im just missing something.....

It's not right that emergency responder people (firemen & police etc) have to put their lives on the line to help some of the crazies that are out there doing things.

That's a good one, Jez. One of my dearest friends, who is also one of the most brilliant people I've ever met, has absolutely no common sense. She's a walking time bomb; an accident waiting to happen, simply because she doesn't seem to have the capacity to anticipate the outcome of her actions or inactions. She gets into all sorts of odd messes and frequently has minor injuries from doing things that would be very simple to most of us.

I watch the TV game show Cash Cab from New York City and it always amazes me that the contestants getting out of the cab with all those strangers hanging around and they are waving in the air their large sums of money they just won. "Stupid is as Stupid does",,, Forrest Gump.
