I found a website with some cool tips on green living. Here are a few excerpts:
Turn off the water while brushing your teeth.
If your toilet is leaking, fix it! You could save up to 200 gallons of water a day.
Drink tap water instead of bottled water. If you drink bottled water, recycle the bottles. Or use a pitcher with a filter.
Walk or ride a bicycle to your job if it's at all possible. You'll not only save fuel but it'll be great for your health as well. If mass transit is available in your area, take advantage of it.
It only takes an extra moment to separate recyclables from the rest of your trash. Have a recyclables bin handy and separate trash as you go.
Compost!
Clean or replace the air filters in your home's heating and cooling system. This can save a surprising amount of energy.
Replace incandescent light bulbs with CFL bulbs.
Unplug appliances when they're not in use. The little standby lights and clocks on various appliances constantly consume energy.

Don't leave all those little A/C adapters plugged in! Great tips Pam! I hate to see recyclables thrown in the trash for landfills too!
Many of the people I work with are very wasteful with stuff. It drives me nuts!

I used to use one of those filtered pitcher for water. Then they made the indicator electronic. You had to hold a button 3 seconds, click your heels together 5 times, pat your head while rubbing your stomach just to see the indicator. I now use bottled and recycle the bottles.
(wonder if Jezer has ever made a peeve about improvements that aren't improvements?)
Switched to the squiggle lights most places but the lamp I do my needlework under is still my faithful old incandescent. When that finally burns out, not sure what I'll do. The new improved ones just don't throw enough light for these ol' eyes.
I do recycle as much as I can. And that's quite a bit. Most times, I go to the landfill to get rid of more recyclables than garbage. (Locally, the same place does both).

There's a recycling program where I live, and they provide a separate recycling waste can, for you to place everything that's recyclable. I think this is a wonderful service.
I think I am pretty good in saving money, electricity, recycling, not wasting food, being frugal, having a "green home"... I was trained good by the Germans
Great tip, Pam! We all should try to do as much as we could.
I like your Blue and Green display, Pam! Those are all good tips to observe. I change the A/C filter every 2-3 weeks and I add to keeping my home air clean by using cheesecloth in the output vents. Yes, it's a pain to remove the thingy and put the cheesecloth in place but worth it. Many years ago I worked with a woman whose child had serious allergies with unknown causes. She was told by a doctor to use the cheesecloth as an extra effort to catch anything flying out of there.
