When I was a kid, I was really into garden snakes and salamanders. On the school playground I was always playing adventure games with the boys. The girls' games were to boring. So this is nothing new, but maybe now it's more common. Kids in our culture are finally becoming free to reach their full potential, and express both masculine and feminine sides of their personalities. This is a very healthy development.
Yeah, I'm a girl so I can only like princesses and tea sets!
I actually loved cars and legos
I think its great that kids can like any toy they want and not be forced into the pink-is-for-girls and boys can only like dirt and smashing-things culture. If a boy wants to join his sister in the play kitchen, what's wrong with that?

So women now want a smart (but not too smart) man that goes to college but has a masculine job and leaves the sophisticated intellectual careers to the ladies.

The feminist movement got what they wanted but their daughters now want a real boyfriend. Go figure.

The feminist movement is feeling fine and girls aren't crying about boyfriends. Go figure that.

I notice it too. Women are doing very well in college and in the business world. In some ways surpassing men. I see more of them participating in sport too. I call it the new Alpha Female. These women are very strong and dominant. For example, they have no problem asking a man out on a date. If men are fine with that then that's okay but some of them do seem more passive.

I have women friends that make more money then their husbands. Many of the husbands stay home with the children. Imo, it's better then putting the kids in daycare but sadly, some of men seem embarrassed by it.

Eweeeeee! That speaks volumes about the women in your part of the country, at least as you see 'em.

I do worry about men becoming superfluous in our society. Really, what do we need them for anymore? Even the "manly men" aren't real men, but big boys. Forget fashion or lack of fitness, the majority of adult men don't take responsibility like adults. Women earn money, take care of children, take care of household chores, and the men think they are awesome if they "help out" for 15 minutes a day.

Much better than daycare. If the man could have a good attitude about it, then it would make it better.

Don Imus of "Imus in the Morning" radio fame hit the nail on the head when he described them as "girly men". "Weenie" and "wussie" are two other appropriate terms.
