Couples who sit next to each other in restaurants
We were talking about those couples who sit next to each other VS across from one another while dining out. Why does this bug me so much? My wife and I are both bothered by it as is a few others we discussed it with. Now, if there are other people or kids with them it's different, but just seeing a couple by themselves at a table/booth next to each other for some reason it's just unsettling. Call me crazy, hell, call me anything you want but at least I can look across the table at the person I'm dining with

We almost always sit next to each other and somehow, miraculously, manage to look at each other too We also can touch each other (unobtrusively and casually - not vulgarly) without having to reach across the table like we're at a seance. We very rarely ever see other couples sitting next to each other but it's something we've always done and feels natural for us. It's also helpful because I'm soft spoken and my husband is sort of hard of hearing so background noise is less of an issue if we're next to each other. Sorry it irks you guys - at least it gives you something to talk about and agree on, eh?

Hahaha!! Nah, your alright I don't dislike people who do this, it really has nothing to do with the people, more to do with how it looks awkward i guess therefor making it uncomfortable to see. Hey, you and your husband keep on rockin out next to each other! People like me will have to learn to deal

We sit across from each other for a couple of reasons....
We can look at each other AND...hubby has a tendency to "spread his wings" which leaves me little room. I enjoy the meal more when I'm not scrunched up.

When my husband and i started dating, and we would go and sit in a booth, next thing i knew he was sitting next to me. This was something i was NOT use to. But i soon got over it.

I can't begin to imagine why you'd possibly care, much less let it bother you.

When I go to restraunts, with anyone, its easier to sit across from them. How can you hear them talk when theyre talking to the seat in front of you? Plus, somehow, it never fails, me being left handed and they being right handed most of the time, and they always seem to scoot closer and closer (whether they realize or not), shoving me into the wall eventually, and I have to sit uncomfortable trying not to bump elbows every time I take a bite.

LOL The things people let bother them, I swear. My b'f and I sit next to each other all the time. We just like being close to each other. You're too far away, get over here!

Its a sign of insecurity and an invasion of personal space.
