Huh...MAJOR FAUX PAUX on my part!..........
I missed that post, gosh darn it!
I am sure, when she is back she will tell us ALL about ?????

OMG...I just noticed that I am in the "on topic" thread!!!!!
Since that thing split, I am somewhat "split" to...my brain, that is....huh.
What I am really trying to say, and to bring my post back to "on topic", is the fact that I am on CD, and got so much vitale info about sorts of things.
I like to think, that I am a somewhat
"free thinker" in many ways, but even I are proofen wrong at times.....oooopppppsssssss
But, that's a GOOD thing!
I like to read and understand other peoples point of view, experience, advice, lectures, critic....etc.
The only thing I can't stomach is people getting just plain nasty, obscene, out of line and conduct a vendeta and personal attack.
But, as I have stated before, I made some good friends on here....and THAT alone outweighs ALL the people I don't want to mention

Last edited by MB2; 06-23-2007 at 08:33 AM.. Reason: adding an excuse for being "off topic" in the "on topic thread....huh

On topic: NAH was one of the fixtures who put City Data on the map, regardless of what people thought of him.

Off topic: Where's Cosmic?
They were honest answers, though Only negative being the mystery/wondering (didn't wanna ever start a thread or anything asking, although tempted).
And, yup, that's what kept me here. I was serious. These were answers to a couple of HDL's questions.
Sorry if I asked for a scoop (like a PM I was thinking), guess it was wrong, but it would cancel that itty-bitty "negative" Most others have been addressed in here.

As usual, I'm Johnny-Come-Lately on some of the interesting questions.

On a travel-related site that some of you might be familiar with - where are you, Pearlbob? - many people would ask relocation questions. That would get topics shut down as the site frowned upon those topics. Eventually someone mentioned this site as a place to find better answers to those questions. So I checked it out and found that it satisfied my geographical curiosity as I consider myself one of those "Places Rated" geeks.

I was happy to find the other non-relo forums. The politics forum seemed like a great place to exchange ideas... initially, at least. While I did find some like-minded individuals and civil debaters, I soon found out what a "tough room" it was and had to give it up for a while. I still dabble in there every now and then... but gosh, some people there are pretty hardcore and intractable about their beliefs. Thankfully, I've found other non-relo forums where the vibe is supportive and educational. Of the non-Yahoo sites that I visit on a daily basis, this is definitely near the top of my list.

What I LIKE about this forum is the fact that there are so many different topics you can discuss and are allowed to start your own easily. The technology is very good and the mechanics of using the forum are easy to follow. The great majority of the Mods are helpful, fair and approachable and both Senior Mods go out of their way to help you out. There are 6 mods that I would rate as 11 on a 1-10 scale and they should know who they are.

What I don't like
is the obvious left leaning bias of the membership and a few Mods who make sharing opinions a bit difficult. I have witnessed many instances where left leaning posters get away with insults, bias and "facts" that they cannot back up while a few Mods allow this to slide by...but when you take them to task you get slammed.

I realize that nothing is perfect
and we are all from the same human race so I don't expect this forum to rate any higher than 8 on a 1-10 scale, but all in all, I would give it a 9.

Were I Admin I would tighten up a lot more on the political and other subjects forum and limit the immigration forum to 20 threads as that is totally out of hand now.

I have made a few friends in here and am happy that so many seniors participate...and young people show more respect in here than on the streets of our cities.

OK, ready for the criticism, comments, compliments as that is what this forum does best!

What I like is even though its Cyber Space its a good cross section of our world, diverse opinons and interesting to say the least. The worst I've seen is the ones that are only on here to suck in a dollar, I don't have a link to my site because I don't want to taint my reason for being here and the way I look at it no place is perfect so if I'm talking to someone thats thinking of relocating and they ask my opinion I'm going to give them the good and the bad, not just the colorized version of it. It makes me want to puke when I see some of the responces on the state posts where some poor slob took someone at face value and moved with their last few pennies only to find they made a big mistake and the only responce is....sorry you didn't like it here.

I love the diversity on the Forum. People from all over the US and the world and all different and unique in their own special way.
I find it informative, entertaining and enjoyable, though it also infuriates and shock me on many occasions.

I have "met" a lot of people I really respect and admire and even made a few "proper" friends via PMs.

There are some really sweet ,lovely and genuine people like Rance ( yes one of my favourite , I can't deny it), people I want to meet one day and have a proper "natter" with over a real cup of coffee and a cake.

Some people do drive me up the wall ( fully reciprocal I'm sure) but the majority seem like nice and kind, funny and I love the fact that you get to "know" people through their posts. So much so I have a very specific idea in mind as to what they are like.

I am also learning a lot about general attitudes to Political and social issues and getting the chance of proper "debate" which is a major bonus.

It is always fascinating to me to see how people think and what they feel about issues I find interesting.

It's funny what UncleBatz says though because I find the right-wing slant the Forum seems to have the main drawback for me as a liberal/bleeding heart/socialist/pinko/commie ( as I have been called many times) that I am...

And I hate the fact that negative rep points don't have to be signed. If you are big enough to deal a bad rep have the guts to sign it ! it's the only honest and open thing to do.

I guess we all have different perspectives.
