I love Dave Sedaris too. My kids banned me from reading him out in public because it makes me LOL, or rather guffaw! Favorite story ever is about the moms cat.

If you like funnies, The Sex Lives of Cannibals is a really great read, it's something completely different.

Thanks all for the book recommendations.

LOVE David Sedaris. Went down in the mancave & remembered we have a collection of his writing & am going to read "Holidays on Ice" during some down time this afternoon. I read the first page about him applying for a job at UPS & laughed out loud. Forgot his wit. Yep, he can be dark & a tad disturbing, but all in all, a great writer.

My dh also has a collection of Hunter S. Thompson. Not so sure. May try to dabble in the basic one, "Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas."

Amy Sedaris was on Chelsea Lately awhile ago & she is also a rare breed.

They say Kindles may go below $100 by summer. But I just love the feel of a book. I love the library. It is comfort to me. I don't want "books" to be a lost art.

I spent the morning in my daughter's class helping 24 8 year-olds measure the vital statistics of their webkins. It's definitely time for happy hour.

I can kind of see why with regards to The Kite Runner. It does have some sexual things in it, but I don't remember it being really bad. I'm not saying I'd not let me child read it, but I can see it giving a teacher pause.

I know exactly what you're saying. I like the smell of books. The feel of the paper. The different styles of type.

My DH got me a Kindle for Xmas. I have to tell you, they are great for reading in bed. No heavy hard cover to juggle or paperback to try and keep open. I was really surprised I like it as much as I do.

That sounds good. I love paper books too but they're hard to juggle in bed, I agree. Question - does the Kindle have a zoom function? I'm an old lady and can't see like I used to.

You can make the font bigger. My mom has the same problem, and her arm isn't long enough anymore. She has glasses but doesn't wear them all the time. Anytime I we go grocery shopping I read all the ingredients and prices.
