Although parents have the rights to name their children what they wish, I just wished that they would seriously consider the child's future before selecting a name. Your child will eventually need to look for a job and, sad to say, but many qualified candidates do not even get taken seriously due to their names (especially if the spelling is off). Not only that but children with unusual or odd names are often bear the brunt of taunts in school, etc. Parents: please don't set your kids up for failure!
My new great-grandchild is named "Nicklas". Dad chose the spelling and granddaughter went along with it. Poor kid will, for the rest of his life, be spelling his name for people because everyone will want to spell it "Nicholas".
My nephew with name of "Jack Hand" has a brother whose middle name is "Clyderay" (combination of two names of grandfathers.) Their oldest sister was given the name of "Daniel" (maiden name of a grandmother) and she was called "Dannie". When she was about 50 she had her name legally changed to a girl's name of her own choosing which p****d off my sister no end and who refuses to call her daughter anything but "Dannie".

Why would a parent give their daughter a masculine name or son a feminine name?
One time I lived in a city that apparently had a man there named Ben Gaye. We used to get some phone calls from time to time asking for him (apparently he previously had our number). Anyway, one time my dad answered the phone and someone asked..."Ben Gaye?"...my dad said..."Not lately!"...lol.
I have seen these name threads pop up on various message boards across the internet for almost the past decade. They *always* have the same names on them!
La-a, Orange and Lemon Jello, Rail and DeRail, Female, Urine, etc. Amazing. Truly amazing.
My coworker just had a baby boy and her inlaws and husband forced her to choose a name that had something to do wth trees. Her husband's name is woody. His father's name is Chip (as in woodchip). She ended up naming her son Cedar. Ugh. Just glad it wasn't a girl. She would have been named Oakly or Maple.
Not weird, but I have come across lots of people on my life with the names: Megan Fox, Steve Martin, Dave Thomas and my fav Elizabeth (Lizzy) McGuire.
