Kind of sounds like ours - and we keep it covered most of the time too!
We have been through several sets of covers - because they deteriorate and rip by the end of the summer. Fortunately, I'm always able to find something on clearance that will work at the end of the summer that lasts through the winter and the following summer....I cannot tell you how many times we've though we'd just leave them uncovered for the evening only to hear thunder in the distance late and night and we end up running outside in our pjs covering furniture!
Wow - that must have been hard to leave. Glad you love Colorado though - it's hard not to love. It was our dream to be here and we luckily had the company pay for the move.
it was hard. I'm not exaggerating when I say I was a 5th generation central valley-ian. I have 12 cousins and 1 sister and all of them except 2 still live there. I do love it here. We picked a good place.
