If people ignored videos like these, maybe parents wouldn't make their kids do things for YouTube and the like.
Anything to go viral, eh?

That is so pathetic. The pain on the boy's face is obvious. Don't be surprised if we see a news story in about 12 years:" Snow boy stabs his parents to death". Karma is a b#tch.

Although by our standards this is like child abuse/neglect, remember that this family is visiting from China and their schooling & approach to childrearing is more militaristic & competitive. In their country 5 year olds may need to complete timed obstacle courses, sprints & gymnastic tricks to secure spots in top academies. In a country with 1.3 billion, it really is dog eat dog to get a piece of the pie.

The video is longer than the one on youtube. I was just coming here to start a thread about it. The little boy was asking for a hug or something and his dad wanted to make him stronger and healthier. I have a 4 year old little boy and watching this actually brought tears to my eyes

I lived in Asia for six years and have observed the same kind of 'toughening up' done by many parents. In fact, many children in high-achieving groups such as martial arts and acrobatic performers go through this kind of training. This includes many kids sent away at very young ages to prestigious academies and sports training facilities.

The reactions of these young children like this boy show just how against the grain of human nature these things are. Eventually, they do become accustomed to it, but you can't change the fact that our need for nurturing is inborn, IMO.

I don't suppose the father would consent to his being stripped to nothing but his underware and tossed out onto the snow to be video taped for viewing on Youtube.

I won't watch the video but they showed a clip of it on the news. It must have been embarrassing AND painful. The snow stinging his bare skin. My husband and I were in tears. Dads should be a rock for their sons. Lead by example, not videotaped torture.

And if I hear one more person try to use culture as an excuse. Please. Your culture dictates you act like an animal? I'm sure I'd be called a racist if I said child abuse is just "how those people act".
