Like their proprietary operating system? Like their employment practices in China? Like their moralizing and determining for you what content they will allow on their devices?

Not sure how you can call that good with a big, broad grin. As long as you get gadgets, though. Who cares!

That's the sad reality of countries moving into the middle class however, they all go through this same evolution to get there. Not saying it is correct, but it does happen. Apple is far from the only company to use Chinese labor either.

That is a very sad attitude. Apple is not just using Chinese labor. They are breaking Chinese law. If we did not buy the products that support these abusive practices, then the abusive practices could not continue. But westerners are an entitled lot and must have their toys. Too bad about the accidents, illegal working conditions, etc..

Crappy as it is, those factories pay more than the native Chinese would be making otherwise. I'm not saying i agree with it but it is a simple fact.

I would like supporting evidence for that fact, please.

Like they are user friendly, reliable, and well designed.

I own, have used, and still occasionally use PCs. Macs are better for the average user who is not interested in programming.

With regard to "determining content" you really should read up about the unfair monopolies windows has participated in. For years they also determined content. Internet explorer?? As for Apple determining what apps you can use on iOS (you can install any app you want on OSX). The reason they do this is clear if you go ahead and jailbreak. I jailbroke an old phone to use as an ipod touch. It became, slow, unreliable, and need constant tweeking. Apple has the right to want to protect its claims of speed and reliability by not allowing software that will "mess up" its operating system. You have the right as the owner of that equipment to jailbreak it and put anything you want on it.

Those of us who use iOS just have to choose which we want. What is wrong with a choice? And ultimately if we are talking about smartphones for kids, or ipod touches, Apple has the best products (reliability wise) and ability to control content for kids. Again, not sure how that is detrimental.

As for employment practices. Are you actually claiming that the windows based machines don't have similar ones? Or that android phones like HTC don't?

Dell, HP, and NEC Chinese Supplier Factory Case Study.

Electronics Makers Have Worst Labor Practices of Any Industry, Says Report - Technology Review

Blaming Apple ALONE for unfair work practices of the people who supply their parts is ridiculous. Those practices are rampant thorugh out the electronics industry and considering mac machines are still a smaller market share, why single them out?
