Daddy took the girls shopping on an emergency jeans run this afternoon. Jeans we bought in August are suddenly too short. They came home with jeggings- I've never heard of them before. threy are stretchy combination of leggings and jeans. I think they are nasty- skin tight. DH called from shopping asking how I felt about tight jeans and I thought he was talking about just that- slim jeans so i said OK. Well - these knocked my socks off. The strange thing is DD1 is the one who really begged for them and she is meatier than her downright skinny sister who does not like them!!! Skinny sister likes roomy clothes like yoga pants with elastic waists and knit material. But she does have some sensory issues so I can understand it.
How do you feel about these jeggings? Are they in fashion where you live?
My daughter went though this jegging phase in 9th grade. It's gone now.
I am not a fan of any overly tight or revealing clothes and these are no exception. I told her that she could wear them with a longer top - like a tunic.
That pretty much ruined it for her. She loves tight clothes. Painted on.
Now jeggings are over. I love the way she dresses now!
The jeggings my daughter has look just like jeans, and pretty substantial fabric.
That's what my daughter's jeggings are like also.
I have seen some that are really thin nylon printed to look like jeans. I don't know anyone who wears them or lets their kids wear them, but I have seen those at stores before.
Mine been wearing them for years but with a shirt that covers their bum. Not seeing an issue? Is she trying to wear them with short shirts? You actually can't tell a difference from skinny jeans to jeggings. And jeggings are a better fit for girls that are abit to skinny or meatier and didn't bulge like jeans.
They tend to be a thinner material to the point that if they were on boys you could tell what religion they are
Well, just to put you wise to the fact that they aren't ALL made of "a thinner material", I was shopping yesterday and saw a rack of Chic jeans. When I looked closely, the tag said "jeggings". And they were the same denim as the next rack of Chic jeans that were boot cut.
As far as the original question - preteen girls are the only ones who should be wearing jeggings.
I see no issue with jeggings (both my 6 and 3 year old wear them) as long as a reasonable length top is worn. But truthfully, many regular jeans are just as tight on the top, from the thigh up, so I'm unsure what the special concern is here as long as the outfit as a whole is balanced just as you would aim for when wearing regular leggings -- a longer and/or looser shirt... I am not a fan of tight on top AND on bottom, it's too much.
I would much prefer my girls to wear jeggings over short skirts any day of the week.
I thought Leopard print was taboo for young girls.
