Red Bull - yuck, "awfulness" in a can.
Oh no no no!!!

Red Bull is GREAT with vodka and a bit of grenadine!

The DD gets a drink every now and again (straight RB, no vodka, lol!), but it actually settles her down and focuses her, but then again stimulants work different on her due to the extreme ADHD. No more than an ounce once a week, I don't think that's too bad.

Oh and as for the taurine, it's actually been proven to be effective in removing fatty liver deposits in humans, preventing liver disease, and reducing cirrhosis in rats.

Ha Ha. You are funny

As for caffeine and ADHD, I have heard that caffeine (in small amounts) helps children with ADHD.

My 14-year-old drinks coffee, but not energy drinks. He has ADHD so it's a downer or rather a stablizer for him. It's a stimulant just like the medication he takes on school days.

Same thing with my 9yr old DD.

The problem is that you "crash" after the caffeine wears off.

I started drinking coffee with cream and sugar at age 2. Yes, you read that right...I also drank a tiny amount of wine with dinner - several years older but still way under the legal limit. Things were different then, huh? Funny - the coffee did not make me hyper, nor the wine drunk, but that's just me. I'm NOT recommending the experiment to anyone!

Anyway...my 5.y.o. does not eat chocolate (mine goes completely Cornholio...once was all it took) or anything caffeinated...no soda (no wine)...energy drinks - insane. Since when does a young child need THAT?

She does have the occasional treat of southern sweet tea - occasional because otherwise she would be 3 feet and already diabetic.

I also remember drinking "coffee" as a toddler. For me, it was when they'd put a tablespoon or so of coffee in my milk. Boy, did I ever feel grown, sitting at the table with the grownups at coffee time after dinner!

My uncle used to come over occasionally and let me have the bottom of his bottle of beer (when no other adults were looking of course). I was about 4 or so. I tried it a few times before I realized that, although I loved dearly my uncle, I absolutely HATED the taste of the beer. When I was a little older, someone told me that the last swig is almost always all spit. No more beer for me!
