DAMN IT where was HOOTERS when I was ten. LMAO. My buddies and I were already salivating over the JC Penny lingerie catalogue. Seriously, probably not the right thing to do in today's hypersensitive anti-child abuse climate. I know I went to the local bar with my Dad lots of times when I was a kid. Me and my buddies would play table shuffle board and down root-beers while the neighborhood Dads would complain about Carter, the economy and the best way to get rid of crab grass. Good Times.
Cocktail shifts-right! Not family restaurants. I don't have a problem with places that do that kind of thing, but most "family" restaurants don't hire based on whether someone is hot or not. There is a difference.
Why so insistent that Hooters is a family restaurant? People used to take kids into bars and pool halls too, it doesn't mean those are family oriented places either. Hooters targets primarily to men, the fact that some families choose to patronize it doesn't change that.
Untrue. We have tricycles, scooters and hula hoops, and we are encouraged to play right along with the kids.
So it's obvious that the bulk of negative commentary comes from people who literally know nothing about H.
What ten year old is going to play with a tricycle and hula hoops?? A boy especially? As said above, this birthday party is designed for the father in mind, not the kid.
And its clear your comments are written with your paycheck in mind. You are hardly an objective opinion.
I've had the opportunity through my job to eat at a lot of fantastic high line restraunts particularly in Philadelphia. xxbabee is pretty much right on with the statement that these places expect a certain look and it isn't the "average" one.
It is funny that people would criticize Hooter's over it's choice of the type of people it will hire to serve $7 burgers, but would think nothing of a similar practice by a restraunt serving $100 steaks. Given the $100 steak isn't being served by a girl in a tight tank top and shorts, but she was hired for the exact same reason and don't think that the girls in the nicer places aren't encouraged to flirt with the men particularly when it's a group of businessmen in nice suits.
I guess if you want to get really base about it, what's the difference between a hooker and an escort? The price and the clothes. However, I have seen far more overt sexual inuendo in most "nice" restraunts than what you'll find in your local Hooter's.

Because if I close my eyes and reviewed the family friendly nature of my employment in the service industry, Hooters would by far come out on top.
And you say 'some' families like families in H are some sort of oddity. Walk into any Hooters anywhere in the country and there are multiple families in it at any given time.

I've seen plenty of young boys in our restaurant playing with hula hoops! Kids don't seem to think it's a gender thing, until they're like 12 years old. On boys' birthday parties at my restaurant, you'll see as many boys playing with hula hoops as you will with scooters, albeit none of them seem to know how to hula hoop!
We also play trivia games, musical chairs with the kids, the list goes on...!

Like all server jobs, I receive very little in regards to paycheck, enough to be virtually insignificant to my income. I receive the bulk of my income by far in tips.
Ok people.....Hooters is not a nude bar or a strip joint....Your 10 year old sees more on a beach while swimming or even at a local pool...
IMO it isn't about how much they see. It is the fact that the theme of the restaurant is boobs. The name means boobs. The uniforms are all about flaunting their boobs. At least at the local pool, the point is swimming and getting a tan. If you have a party at the roller rink, the point is skating; at the bowling alley, it's bowling. What is the point of this Hooters party? To look at boobs?

Because your largest customer base is men and there are some (as in not mostly) families?
