Emmaus almost looks like an extension of Allentown. Coopersburg is fine. Hellertown and Fountain Hill are sort of the same deal as Emmaus, like exensions of Bethlehem though not as gritty, because Bethlehem is way less gritty than Allentown.

Those towns are in Montgomery County still, granted the northen parts so pretty far away from Philly. Don't know much about them though they are relatively close to Pottstown. Also looks like they aren't too far from Gilbertsville which was the one other area we were looking at that had decent homes in our price range with decent schools to match when we were house hunting last year, but since we knew nothing of the area and it seemed comparatively lacking in terms of access to highways, shopping and amenities, we decied to stay in Levittown.
