Hospital must treat.

To make up for the non paying, the hospital raises cost of care across the board.

Costs go up...... insurance companies raise everyone's premiums to cover the increases.

Those who do carry health insurance end up paying for those who don't.
hahaa I love how you conveniently package everything to match your own views. unfortunately for your logic, ACA isn't causing anyone's premiums to go down. the costs are going up across the board. the young and healthy are going to pay more for the sick and old. employers are going to have to pay more to cover regular employee's health insurance so regular middle class employees will see lower quality health insurance (or reduced to part time employment).

Isn't that the way all insurance works?

Those who don't make claims {car, house, health} pay for those who do.

The young and healthy are not always going to be young and healthy.....their day will come.

Healthcare costs have been growing by leaps and bounds, well before the ACA.

Time will tell if the ACA contains those costs..... the larger the pool.....the lower the cost for the individual.

You can't expect to see a drastic change in the growth of charges overnight.

It would have been so much better if Universal Healthcare could have been implemented....but that was never going to happen. {At least not anytime soon.}

Cutting out for-profit insurance companies would have made a HUGE difference in total healthcare costs.

I know, I know. Is it because insurance will now be upwards of twice as expensive as it was before? That's how supply and demand works, right? Price goes up and so you buy more of it! Insurance as a Giffen good!

If ACA does crash it will take all the private insurance companies that it props up with it.

I've thought for the past couple of years that its crashing would the fastest way for the US to implement some form of Universal Healthcare.

Does anyone have any information on how much our Federal and States Income taxes will be lowered after 1/1/14? I mean, all these uninsured people will have coverage then so we don't have to pay for their ER visits now (supposedly it will be cheaper to give them insurance or so the argument has been made).

Any links out there?

Why not put EVERYONE on Obamacare to make the pool as large as possible to maximize the savings? Eliminate the business tax credit for giving health insurance and give it to all individuals who must buy their policy from a company on the exchange. No exemptions.
Seems the fairest way to do it.
Think of the taxes saved as cops, firemen, teachers and all govt workers have to pay full price for their insurance. We'd save billions in total.

Skip buying from a company. Instead buy from a version of Medicare. Thats the next step.

It won't crash. They'll simply raise the fine until it motivates people to sign up. The fine is only about $90 in 2014. But, isn't it $300-$350 in 2015?

Both parties are in too deep with the insurance companies. Will never happen. Our politicians will keep whoring themselves out.
