I hope to retire late, as I enjoy working, but I could easily retire long before my official retirement age if I wished to.
You bootstrap bravado folks crack me up. You can finger wag at the financial losers in life all you want, you're gonna pay for their deficit in retirement anyways. How's that finger wagging working out for ya then?

There are plenty of middle class folks who know how to run their finances unfortunately they have to take care of financial losers too. And here you are laughing at them for it. Nice.
??? I have never asked for higher wages, I have been asking for reduced regulation and the resulting opportunity to buy a tiny home on the pittance I earn.
For low-wage workers, owning a home is a crucial defensive tactic which can make the difference between being able to retire with a modest standard of living, and remaining poor without the ability to ever retire.
And we've covered that one, too. To a point, some of us agree with you on this issue (or at least I do)...but the bottom line is we can't change the housing market regulations in your area. So if you really want to do something effective, why are you not lobbying your local and state government on this issue instead of wasting time on CD? I suspect it's because you are more interested in garnering sympathy and attention than in doing something constructive.

You are talking apples and oranges. "Financial" success is not the same as success in life and the two should not be conflated. My high school GF became a millionaire on her 18th birthday. first thing she did was buy a house on the Shore and socked away the remaining $900K.
She is financially successful without having had to work for or at it. She could even spend $500K and still be financially successful. I am getting by on financial fumes. That takes effort and the vast majority of "financially successful" people could never get by -- they would financially fail - on the pittance I make.
