The consequences for those unable to find affordable housing the [Harvard Joint Center on Housing Studies] says is dire. They spend about $130 less on food, 40 percent less than those living in housing they can afford. Thus housing is clearly linked to hunger in the U.S. They also spend significantly less on health care and retirement savings.
As shocking as it may seem for some, most people don't maintain there same income through out there lives. Many have been poor to start out and then went on to have nice middle class income. Some have been rich and poor as well. You save when you can.
40 hours is not a mandated maximum. Need more money-earn it, you have 128 hours left per week after your first job.
Not everyone can get (more than) 40 hours a week; low-wage employers often change schedules weekly and I once lost one of my two jobs when I was scheduled to be at both jobs at the same time on a holiday and had to choose which job I was willing to give up. This is going to be more of a problem now that employers are cutting schedules even more due to Obamacare. For some people, transportation issues (not having a car) will get in the way of working multiple jobs.

Well duh. But some people earn lifetime low wages; are you familiar with Nickel and Dimed?
and we tell you over and over no point bringing them up ,they have no options and no choices in life .
you keep looking for answers where there are none.
they need to find real jobs thats the only answer, if they can't then their fate is sealed. you can stop searching for answers, none exsist for those who have failed in life financially.
Fine, those who can get 2, budget on 2 jobs. Those with 1 job budget on 1.
No problem.
You didn't answer the question of how much they should save for retirement, unless you're saying they shouldn't save anything foor retirement is their budget has no surplus, but then could you blame them for not saving for retirement?
