Hey there,

Currently we have a reminder monthly to donate. When that reminder comes up we will choose a charity from CharityWatch and donate to them.

My question: would you recommend we keep doing that (pick a different charity to donate to each month)? Or should we just keep donating to the same charity each month?

Please state the reasons why

Thanks!

We donate the majority to two places near and dear to our hearts. Smaller donations are scattered throughout the year.
I would not even consider picking a random charity.

Whatever you decide is right for you!

I have one that is taken out of my bank account monthly, a couple of annual memberships (humane society, etc) than a few that I donate to regularly, mostly local food banks and a rescue mission in AC. But I also do choose others randomly if I see something on TV about it. For instance Nightly News profiled a bus driver in NYC who every single night used his own money and labor to make hot meals that he delivered every night to homeless people, and I donated to him, and I saw another segment for a program that has prisoners raising and training service dogs for veterans, and I was impressed enough to donate to them (Puppies behind Bars).

No donations in 2015, we excellerated 2015 donations and paid them in 2014 to make sure we can write them off

Giving is one of those things that is better done with a single commitment, rather than 'making-up one's mind again every time one decides to give.' Make an annual commitment to one or more charities and meet it. Then, give to other charities on your list as your resources and desire allow.
