Thought maybe we could learn from each other.

For those who are working minimum wage jobs (or close) which do not require a degree, AND are living comfortably enough, how do you get by?

Some examples of answers could be....

Do you do anything unique or creative? Maybe include such as...

Do you own your home?

What do you do for a living?

What is your retirement outlook?

Will you continue to live similarly, better or worse? assets?

What do you do for medical care? do you have a health plan?

Goes without saying if you do not want to answer, no problem.
OR If this thread not appealing, please just allow the participants the ability to discuss the topic, unhindered, thank you

.

You can have a home like this in Russia for 10k - The first on-site house has been printed in*Russia | Apis Cor. We print buildings

I am guessing this would cost 5 times as much in the USA.

i can tell you right now, low wage living is rough! 2 people on $12 per hr on a 40 hr week take home $3k per month if your lucky. $1500 going towards rent, and another $1000 for food and expenses! if your smart and lucky. put away whatever is left over for a rainy day.

in nyc, this means living just outside manhattan, working whatever low paying job, customer service, fabrication, jeweler, receptionist, hotel worker, security, garage ...

hard life, and you learn to be frugal and a bargain hunter.

I hope college minimum wage counts

Wage: 26$ an hour for 40 hours a week
Job: Desktop Support
Take home: 3000$ a months however its sometimes more with miledge
Location: California somewhere

Rent: 800 $ a month utilities included
Phone and car insurance : 100$ A month
Food: $200-250 depends on my mood for snacks
Car Gas: 110$ A month
Netflix: 10$ a month
Supplies: 50$ to 80$
Health insurance: 0$
Debt : 0$

Leftover : 1700 to 1600 somewhere around there

I live pretty comfy and save a decent amount however I don't have anything like a new car or debt
The minute I do my money will definitely not render at all
Makes it easy to save up for those unexpected emergencies and also for the wedding ring for my girlfriend and spoiling her
When we move in thru it will be time for me to invest more for retirement

Are you serious? Minimum wage is $10.50/hr. At 40 hrs a week, AND around 20% for deductions we're left with about $1344/mo and $16,128/yr.

Must be nice to have life so easy and have $1600 left over.
If your rent is only $800/mo. You must be living with room mates/family or not in L.A.

$26/hr is not minimum wage.

In many southern states and rural areas all over America close to 40% of the population makes less than $25,000 a year. Some how they make it just fine. Here is how:

One USED car
Few out to eat meals
No travel
No Internet or Cable TV
Clothes at Goodwill
The Dollar Store for stuff
They pay very little in state or federal taxes
Few or any kids

(Live the 1950s lifestyle and you will do fine.)

Most people who make ACTUAL minimum wage aren't going to have the resources/time/or English speaking skills to post here on the internet.

However, my ex-girlfriend made $15/hr and had three kids and got by. Here's how...

Her mom got disability which helped.

If you live in a fairly rough neighborhood, rent is dirt cheap. She paid I think $650 for a 2 bedroom apartment with a full living room ... in a major city. No 'normal' people would touch that neighborhood with a ten foot pole, so no demand. Of course, living in that neighborhood will come with stuff like rogue junkies wandering into your back porch.

Dirt cheap bare minimum services for stuff that 'normal' people spend an absolute fortune on. For example, car repair ... used parts installed by a dealer who speaks only Spanish. She might spend like $75 to get an alternator fixed while 'normal' people would spend like $600.

Loans, loans, loans. Lots of crushing debt.

Not going out a lot, and not spending a lot of $ on things that I do, such as alcohol (the biggest killer), dining out, and stuff like plays and concerts. I actually knew much more about the city than my ex did, even though I didn't even live there.

It opened my eyes. Most people I know complain about getting by off $60,000 a year for just themselves.

It's only $8.44 in NJ, with a very high COL.
