I'm not keen on treating the central Regional Rail stations like subway stations, but I can live with it.

I have a bigger beef with the ride caps on the "unlimited" calendar-based passes.

I would have much preferred that SEPTA simply change these to discounted bulk-purchase passes NOT linked to a calendar period. IOW, you purchase 80 or 250 trips, and when you use them up, you buy more. If you use them up in less than the old calendar period, fine; if you use them up in a longer period, fine.

Of course, this presents a revenue downside for SEPTA in that it's probably the case that most calendar-pass users take fewer than the capped number of trips, possibly far fewer. (ISTR that the pass prices are based on 5 two-vehicle-each-way round trips for a weekly and 22 of these for a monthly; that would work out to 20 and 88 unlinked trips respectively. But after doing the math, it seems my recollection is incorrect, for $2.80 (token + transfer) x 10 = $28 and $2.80 x 44 = $123.20; the actual prices are $24 and $91 respectively.

At first I got into a gripe about the pass limits but I thought about it myself and was like "I Don't take that many trips" but now its coming back to a head now. I feel the passes should be how you explained...Pay for as many trips as you want...I think they would still get more revenue that way.

I still think they should offer

5 Trip Pass
10 Trip Pass
Single Trip Pass
Regular Trip Pass-Buy as Many Trips (Example: $2.25x 100 Trips = $222.00) *Recharge whenever you want to if you are getting low.

But I do feel once the system is live...people will complain and SEPTA might be forced to change the pass limits. I think the public is more in favor in a "Non Cap Pass Limit" Pass. It's just plain and simple. SEPTA would save themselves the gripe if they change that plan now.

I've also wondered why the top of City Hall is so white while the rest of the building is more off-white/tan.
It's because the top portion of the tower is painted metal, while the rest is stone.

True, but they could have chosen paint that is closer to the ivory/cream color of the limestone (?) or marble (?) to match the rest of the building.

It would be pretty impossible to match it exactly, given the differences in material, textures and color variations. My guess is that they chose the current paint color based on historical research and analysis of the original paint, but who knows?

I personally prefer that it doesn't try to match or make the metal pretend to be stone. If I got my druthers I'd wish it to be a bit grayer, like a battleship, to make it even more obviously an amazing metal structure at the top of the tower.

The two sections did match before they restored the tower. It was pretty jarring to see the two different colors once the tower was restored.

Could be. But, as I said below, the sections used to match or rather you couldn't tell there were differences with where the metal ended and the stone began.

What impresses me so much about it, as a whole, is if you walk around the base of the bldg, there are no visible cracks or obvious points where the stone base has "adjusted". Have any of the Calder sculptures fallen off? No, that I'm aware of.

You couldn't easily tell when it was all filthy, but you certainly could tell once it was cleaned. Painted metal is never going to match unpainted natural stone except from a very great distance. And from a very great distance you can't really even tell now.

You can even see the rivets in the metal portions if you look. And I actually love that. Because metal isn't cheap fake imitation stone like the Dryvit & GFRC we see a lot of today, it's awesome industrial age cast iron craftsmanship from the workshop of the world, and IMO it should be celebrated!

If they covered it all up in dirt again, they'd match, I guess

When I come back to the city in march over spring break and hop on the El to get back to Port Richmond will I be able to use the tokens I have in my bag or pay with change if my clumsy self happens to lose them?

Quick answer: The public doesn't know. There's been no announced date for roll out. My opinion is that "March" is just something septa threw out. Just talk in other words. Keep your tokens.
