My husband and I are considering relocating to Pennsylvania. We currently are living in Arizona. What's the job market like? I've already checked out real estate prices and they definitely meet my budget! And how far is NYC?

Thanks!

depends on what you are thinking about doing and where exactly you want to move...
Philly itself has a lot of opportunity. There are lots of financial places one can work-Vanguard is a large one. There are radio stations, hopsitals, universities, malls (King Of Prussia), RX companies (Merck, Wyeth...), advertising companies...just a lot. what field are you looking for?
some areas are more affordable than others. Mainline is probably the most expensive.

I'm looking for legal work. I am a paralegal. My husband is interested in media arts jobs, maybe animation.

Thanks for your tips. I will definitely be checking with this forum on places to live.

One more question: really....how cold does it get? And does it snow that much? When I lived in NY I know it snowed more in NY than either Maryland or Virginia. Just curious. My husband is originally from the Bay Area and there is no snow there.

Lots of jobs for you and I am sure he could find something as well.
The cold/snow isn't that bad in Philly...now, if you were to move to Central PA, that would be a different story. I would say Philly is more rain than snow in the cold months.

Depending on what part of Philly you are in and how you travel getting to NYC takes between 1 and 2 hours. You can take Amtrak from 30th street (center city) or if you live along the R7 SEPTA line (northeast Philly) you can take that train to Trenton and switch to New Jersey Transit. It takes a bit more time, but costs a lot less. There are plenty of law firms here, so you should not have a problem finding a job. But, I don't know about your husband's area.

Thanks for the tips. I appreciate it. I enjoyed living on the East Coast way back when and although I am a native West Coaster, I like the attraction of living close to other states. Plus it's so pretty over there, and I know what pretty is as I grew up in California. I will definitely put these tips to use. Thanks!

I'm looking to move back home to Philly from Indiana. How is the jobs out there? I now work for a casino and I have been working there for over 14 years. My job position right now is Security. How strong are the jobs in that area. I'm also going to school for Health and Human Services. I really want to move back to Philly but I want to make sure the jobs are out there first.
