Hi guys
I live in Lancaster but will be spending an evening in Philadelphia.. however, the last train to Lancaster is at 10:55PM and that might be too early.. is it OK to spend couple of hours of waiting inside the station? I would assume it doesn't close? Will I get in trouble with AMTRAK police? Anyone has any experience with that? The first train is at 5:25am so I would probably spend a good 4-5 hours there..

it's 24 hours, there's a few late night trains to/from AC and one nec train but it's otherwise pretty quiet. I don't know if the amtrak police will give you a hard time if you're sleeping on the bench though if you have a ticket they'll probably leave you alone. generally though, nothing wrong with hanging out at the station all night.

everything inside the station will be closed but the station itself will still be open. I've gotten back from AC around 3am and from NYC around 4am . . . ugggh. it's desolate but there are always people milling/sleeping about because of layovers.

As long as you are a ticketed passenger you will be fine. Security might ask to see it, don't take it personally. They are just trying to keep things safe. Also, there a lot of shift changes at night so don't be cross if you get asked a couple times by multiple security officers. Sometimes they don't tell each other about everyone in the station. The poor officers get yelled at a lot. They are just trying to make a living.
