30 miles/way. 40-50 min. drive. I've had worse. Getting 50 mpg helps.

How about Glenside, specifically around Keswick Village? Close to the Elkins Park/Abington jewry and a nifty little neighborhood.

I checked google map and you are correct. 22 miles the shortest route. I would have bet it was at least 40+ miles

I would suggest Levittown or Fairless Hills. (Neshaminy or Pennsbury School Districts) Both awesome school districts! Only 10-15 minute drive to Trevose and still not far for your hubby to get to South Philly.

It isn't the miles, it's the traffic. Lancastor av, City Av, Roosevelt expy, the boulevard equals 22 miles of start and stop. It used to take me 35 minutes to get to the YMCA in downtown Ardmore from west Center City and not during rush hour.

I wouldn't recommend either to a Jewish family looking to live around other Jews.

Not that I'd recommend Ardmore to the OP, but that seems a bit long. For me, the far eastern edge of University City to Ardmore takes slightly over a half hour during rush hour. I guess it could take that long if you took Lancaster Avenue all the way.

Actually for your budget you could get a pretty nice, completely renovated house in Levittown (Middletown Township) Neshaminy SD or Fairless Hills,(Falls Township/Pennsbury SD. It doesn't have the status of an Abington but it is a nice area. Most of the Levitt houses have been remodeled and expanded to the point that you wouldn't recognize them. The area used to be blue collar but more and more professionals and executive young familys have moved in and gentrified the area. Just stay away from the portion of Levittown or Fairless Hills in Bristol Township Try zip 19056 .

Thanks- I'm 100% not considering Bristol SD, so that's not an issue. We're looking at several houses in Glenside, actually- and a few in Willow Grove. That's on Sunday, so I'll let you all know how that goes! Maybe one of these will be "THE ONE!" Lol
