Just saying.
Yes, I definitely want life after work I don't need a party area by any means, but a few local pubs nearby and I'm a happy camper.

I would love a 2 bedroom, but know that with the amount I want to spend on rent, that may not happen. I could make a 1 bedroom or 1 bedroom+office work. I'm coming from a 3 bedroom house, so I know I'll have to downsize.

Great area. Parts are still up and coming though. Fishtown is historically a working class neighborhood quickly becoming overrun with young professionals priced out of Northern Liberties. You may also want to check out Northern Liberties, Farimount, Graduate Hospital, Bella Vista, Queen Village, Passyunk Square, East Passyunk Crossing, Spruce Hill, Manayunk and East Falls. You may like Chestnut Hill as well but that is more sleepy and has more families than professionals but has a great Main Street vibe along Germantown Ave.

Is Craigslist my best bet for finding the types of places I'm looking for? (flats, brownstones, rowhomes, etc) Or are there any other good websites I should be using?

forgot to mention - I would ideally like a commute 30min or less via public transit. That would probably take Collingswood off the list.

Just so you know, the PATCO ride from Collingswood to 8th and Market is 11 minutes.

The problem with Collingswood is it is a dry town. No bars. No places to buy alcohol. Not an ideal place for a young professional. Most taxi drivers will not take you to Collingswood after the bar at night and who want to be riding the Subway through Camden drunk after the bar? A young single professional should really be in the city.

I think you would REALLY like Manayunk. I think you should look there. It's in your budget, has public transit to Center City and plenty of taxis and has a great bar/nightlife scene along Main Street.
