Philadelphia has 2 1/2 time the population of Baltimore. Obviously it is much larger. But I do think the Philadelphia folks are giving Wilmington too much credit. Baltimore has more than eight times the population of Wilmington.

I live in Baltimore, so I have a pretty good idea of how it feels. I have also visited both Wilmington and Philadelphia over the past few years. Unsurprisingly, Philadelphia felt like a much larger city with a much larger and more walkable downtown in comparison to Baltimore. Wilmington felt quite small to me. I enjoyed my time there, but there is no comparison to Baltimore in terms of urban feel.

Finally, for some strange reason, I am now working with three recent Philadelphia transplants. Baltimore has far surpassed their (admittedly) super extremely low expectations. They have all been pleasantly surprised. Of course, it is always better to exceed expectations!

I will be back in Philadelphia next week. I have high expectations.

Baltimore is great, and I think most Philadelphian's love Baltimore.

I was in Baltimore once and it was exactly how others have described it, a larger Wilmington. Nothing to write home about. Philadelphia is a larger metropolis and has many more options in every category.

I have familial roots in Baltimore and the Eastern Shore. I have family living there now. I've always liked Baltimore.

Well, I can't say I know really anything about Wilmington, having only been there once...but I don't get why "a larger Wilmington" is being used as some sort of dismissive insult here.
One could say that Philly is "a larger Lancaster (or maybe York), PA". ....So what?

There's lots of cities bigger and with more options than Philly, but that doesn't take anything away from it.
Baltimore is a cool city with many things to admire and appreciate. Hopefully Philly can be half as successful in getting it's waterfront act together.
