If you are talking about the City of Lancaster, that is about an hour west of Philadelphia. You should post on the general Pennsylvania forum for that.

If you mean Lancaster Avenue or anywhere else in the West Philadelphia section of town, I'm sorry to say that there is nowhere in the city that you will find housing for $20 per night. That would probably hold true in the city of Lancaster as well, I would predict. Perhaps there are rooming houses in the city but they don't particularly advertise and I probably would not trust the safety factor in them.

West Philadelphia isn't known for having a particularly high Arab population although perhaps some of the West African population there may be Muslim.

The most decent accomodations for someone who is staying for a while but not long enough to rent an apartment would be out at the airport area. There are a few extended-stay hotels out there.

thanks sir for your respond,first i want to tell you in spite of i'm teacher in arabic language my level is english is weak, i ask you to pardon me this, and i would continue the discussing with you if it's possible.I 'm invited this summer to participate in philadelphia world chess open in sheraton hotel as i'm fide master in this game,i' represented my country morocco in several festivals and olympiad in several parts of the world,i'd never been in weak position facing racism ,hate group teens attacking strangers.For this reason i'm asking about the safe areas and staying 1month in safe room or appartement with a price about 400 to 700 dollars,and i' have any idea about the city and dangers.In my nice city tangier north morocco,lot of americans leave usa to stay in good conditions,there is now violence,no segregation ,you can walk alone at any time ,nothing happend,one the beautfuls cities in the world.Could you tell me more .thx a lot.

Are you talking about the Sheraton located at 36th and Chestnut Streets in Philadelphia? If so that is in a good area of University City. You are also very close to center city, where you should plan to spend some time. That being said, this is a big city and you have to use common sense when walking around.

For housing, I would suggest you go to craigslist classifieds: jobs, housing, personals, for sale, services, community, events, forums. Go to Philadelphia, housing, sublets/temporary. in the Search for block type in University City and in the rent blocks type in $400 for minimum and 700 for maximum. You will get a list.
