New York City is supposed to enter their version of yellow (phase 1) on Monday, no word on if that is still the case.

As bad as it sounds, this is a true test to see if Covid is still as bad as it was a few months ago before the shutdowns.... We shall see.

There's no way the city/state can continue the covid-19 lockdown.

Now medical experts are stating that anyone participating in or near demonstrations needs to be covid-19 tested.
It dont matter if we go to yellow nothing is open

It will be an excellent test of how dangerous outdoor transmission is. The age range probably skews young but we could learn a lot from this many gatherings all across the country.... Too bad we don't have contact tracing.

Not related to us directly but George Floyd was positive for the coronavirus.

Correct. Every boarded up property means that going to yellow, or even green, does not matter very much.

Was he? Man, I really wonder how many asymptotic positives are out there. The estimates vary widely.

It's just impossible to know. My family and I are preparing for another surge in a few weeks.

How on one hand can the city/state impose rules for us to stay inside, businesses close, no large public gatherings, then allow any, let alone continued, assemblies of 1000s of people? The resulting destruction aside, we're then supposed to live in a semi-open society.

Officials should have considered your scenario before allowing any mass gatherings. It's not an ''if'' question either, it's a fact that 1000s of protesters, looters, and rioters, have gathered in large groups, went go home and infected family members, and then everyone now stays home all summer.

I saw young children with adults inside stores on Walnut, cars pulling up then filled with looted merchandise, all these people went back to their ''communities''.

The protesters have been unleashed since Saturday and will be out gathering again today. How many lives will be lost to Covid 19 as a result of these protests? how many more businesses, at the least ones not looted or destroyed, will close due to any extended closings?

we've all been made fools of sitting at home into early June and then 10000s+ protesters gather on a daily basis, rioters destroy businesses and set fires.

I say Go Green now (as in open everything).

Wonder how many people Floyd infected? Lucky he didn't get sick with his heart disease and drug abuse. Gotta wonder.

Floyd tested positive in early April so not sure if he could've still been infecting others.

Isn't the key though being asymptomatic but not contagious? There's a window of contagion but who knows how this virus really works.

How many infected protesters are in contagion stage in Philly right now?

More demonstrations planned again today though.

Btw, Floyd didn't have a mask on during his encounter with Minneapolis police.

Boarded up from the rioting or just boarded up as in since March? Many businesses will never reopen from the virus to the rioting.

If the city can restore order, which it won't, then these protests will continue.

Floyd's funeral is next week. So we can expect continued protests until then with a chance of rioting, looting, burning, and vigilantism in the neighborhoods...oh, and continued Covid 19 infections.
