It's day 10 of being a refugee and it's all very weird. It seems like we've dropped a gazillion tons of dynamite right into the middle of our economy and I'm still not quite sure if it was worth it or if it was a massive overreaction. Got warning emails from our CEO about possible layoffs and while I'm reasonably secure in my role due to current projects, if things don't change soon regarding the shutdowns America is heading for a nasty world of economic hurt that could be a lot worse than the virus itself.
You-know-who thinks we can "re-open" by Easter. I think he's playing with fire by saying this. The number of cases/deaths is not going to go down in 2 weeks time.

Right now 100 NYPD officers have tested positive, for example.

Omg. But, no, symptoms for me.

The media in general is not helping and now when people feel symptoms they rush to the hospital asking for a test and are quickly turned away.

The points my friend made:

1. If you have cold and flu symptoms, stay home, rest, hydrate, etc. You might have Covid or just a cold.
2. Unless symptoms become severe, shortness of breath, very high fever, etc. there is nothing the hospital can or will do, so you are harming yourself and others more by venturing out.
3. Tests are only given to those gravely ill or those who were knowingly exposed to others with Covid.

In my unfortunate situation, I must monitor and stay home, unless things decline.
Feel better soon. You sound like a strong young person. Binge watch movies, drink water, eat healthy and get plenty of rest. You'll bounce right back!

If people knew how bad this virus is, they would chill for a few weeks so that we can quickly see the end of this nightmare.

Real estate offices and related services are among the Pennsylvania businesses that Gov. Tom Wolf has said aren’t considered “life-sustaining” and must stop physical operations. The Pennsylvania Association of Realtors and the Pennsylvania Land Title Association are among the groups that have applied for a waiver to reclassify real estate activities as essential.

That's pretty optimistic IMO. I don't think this is a door that closes and then just reopens. I think this thing is going to be an ongoing event (in waves?), with all sorts of ripple effects that will impact the economy, travel, regulations, etc. For those of us lucky enough to keep our jobs, that normalcy may be more of a chance. For many, things may not go back to normal.

You're not the only one who knows how bad it is. And it's easy to say that everyone should stop making any efforts, like working virtually through a real estate deal, when there is money and all sorts of other things on the line. Why should people not do what they can if they're doing it safely?

If they knew how bad it is, they would be following the guidelines from the experts. Do you for one minute think the realtors association understands anything about pandemics?

Look at what is happening in Italy and tell me if this is a situation you are willing to accept. While you are at it, please read up on the Spanish flu. We are in the middle of a pandemic and people are still partying like they are aboard the Titanic
