I may be relocating to Philly with a job in Center City. My wife and I have family in Bethlehem PA and would like to live in that direction. What is the farthest suburb up 476 that is reasonable (45 minutes to 1 hour and twenty) from Center City?

I will need my car, so SEPTA will not be of service (at least most of the time).

Thanks

You might want to look in the Lansdale area, or maybe Quakertown.

I was considering those two locations, but I wanted to get an idea of the commute time during rush hour. I would be working down by City Hall, and I can deal with 1 hour to 1:20 at the most with 45 minutes being better.

i wouldn't go any further than plymouth meeting, traffic up the north east extension can get bad especially on fridays. It's caused more by the turnpike traffic heading towards jersey but it backs up all the way to 76.

The drive from Norristown to Center City is about 75 minutes at rush hour. Which, around here, shouldn't be called "rush" hour at all ...

Add another 20 to 30 minutes for Lansdale.

Ohio please don't take this the wrong way. I have lived in the Harleysville area for 15 years. It takes you longer from Norristown than it does from Harleysville. It is only 20 miles from Norristown to Center City. You are averaging less than 20 miles an hour. You should try a different route.

I would say Quakertown would be as far north as you would want. Lansdale would also be good because you could easily take the train in if you wanted to. I live near (north of Quakertown) Bethlehem and can get to the airport in just over an hour but that's without traffic. Doylestown is a nice area as well.
