Since I am having problems joining the SkyscraperCity.com forum (they will not accept my username for some reason...anyway they are lame), I will bring it up here. What does everyone think of the new American Commerce Center, that will hopefully be built and has already been approved. The skyscraper would be the tallest skyscraper in the United States if it was finished today at 1500 feet (over topping the Sears Tower by 50 feet). Only the Freedom Tower in New York City and Spire Tower in Chicago will overcome this magnificant building in the near future. I believe this skyscraper is needed to bring Philadelphia back to its golden age of prosperity. What are some of your thoughts on this?

Hopefully it will be Toronto Dominion Bank (TD Bank). As of yet they are only rumors though.

Im pleased about this, but the downtrodden neighborhoods like Kensington and Grays Ferry need to cleaned up first before Philadelphia is a World Class city.

Philadelphia is cleaning up its act from the inside out. Center City is now home to roughly 100,000 mostly upper-middle-class residents, and those who want to live in the "pulse" of the city but can't afford Center City are gentrifying adjacent neighborhoods. Eventually prices in those neigborhoods will rise, and grad students, artists, gays/lesbians, etc. will flood into other "emerging" districts until most of Philadelphia is indeed a great place to live again.

look 90 miles north of here and you'll see one NYC, a World Class city with ghettos in every borough.

then you haven't north of E. 100th or so.
Parts of Harlem are gentrifying, but the vast majority of it is still "downtrodden" to say the least.

Philly is back? No, Philly never left! I am glad the American Commerce Center is being built in Philly. I hope that it gets built successfully without any interruptions from suspensions. I would love it if Philly proposed and approved a couple of other 1000 footers.
