I see a lack of respect or curiosity for what's different as the "root of all evil".

This fear based culture divides based on:

- race
- gender
- sexuality
- religious belief
- socioeconomic status
- [lots of others I can't think of right now ]

Pick your poison - the minute you think you're superior and others inferior you can predict violence and oppression.

not exactly...

humans can be cruel, savage and inhuman. Racism is just a manifestation of this.

I think racism is all over the world and inside every culture and even against ones own race.
There will always be the have and have nots and the rich will look down on the poor. The class system in any country has the upper crust looking down at the lower classes and seeing them as "inferior" . People in general use economic status as a way to discriminate. People in general use a persons ethnicity to judge them.
Racism or Jealousy will always be with us when one group wants to influence and rule over another. It will never end.

For me what most people call racism I would refer more as 'culturalism' .... for example Id rather not hang around with people who have their pants around their knees and listen to hip hop, regardless of whether they are black or white.... they tend to behave and have a value system that does not agree with me. Some cultures of people tend to have certain behaviors that others would not prefer and its ok to want to hang around people with similar value systems and behavior...

I agree. I've worked with black people, orientals and those people were fine. Good workers, or at least no different than the rest of the people. On the other hand, when I look at the people hanging out on front stoops, street corners with their pants down to their knees, 90% of them black, wearing hoodies when its 80 degrees out, I avoid them. If that's what they want, that's their choice but I don't want to be near it.

I think "tribalism" might be a better term. And yes, people have always preferred to band together with people more like themselves to hurt people unlike themselves. Empathy is hard, I guess.

There was a time when you could have called "racism" a major evil, but now, at this time, the people who are always blaming everything on "racism" are much worse.

Maybe failure sometimes is somebody's own fault. Maybe different cultures and different breeds have different talents. Maybe what modern complainers call "racism" isn't always 1000% incorrect.

Unravel all evils and ultimately you uncoil either greed, fear, or ignorance.

No western country is as racist as Japan. Foreigners of any stripe are shunned there.

Western nations gave up whaling so there was no one for Australia to criticize except Japan. Maybe the Eskimos because I think they kept hunting whales too, but their feeble efforts didn't amount to much.

The heathens have plagued Western lands long before 9/11. They invaded the Eastern Roman empire, the Balkans, Austria, Iberia, France. All with the goal of converting Christians at sword point. Their ardor might abate at intervals, but it always rekindles. Because they refuse the true faith, they listen to the siren call of violent charismatics, summoning them to renew jihad. Just yesterday, heathens in Pakistan burned two Christians alive.
Christianity is just as heathen as any other religion, large or small.

Perhaps you are pointing to how that religious sect praised racism against people who belonged to other religious sects that were different from the existential property of the Vatican and elsewhere and vice-versa?

Indoctrination to serve the interests of those in power is the root of evil, whatever evil is, which I assume here means proper kind behavior shown to all one encounters until reasons are given not to.
