Because of racism, the "inferior" races of the world were largely subject to exploitation, humiliation and/or even enslavement by the "superior" and "civilized" Western nations of the world.

Because of racism, there have been double standards between the way that "inferior" races especially non-whites and whites have been treated. If it is unacceptable for Japan to conduct whaling practices on grounds of the preservation of endangered species, why is Australia not saying anything about the conduct of European whaling nations like Norway and Iceland?

Because of racism, anti-Muslim sentiments (especially after 911 and even today) in the world have pushed more Muslims into the terrorist war and be brainwashed by extremists.

Because of racism, many people in the West have criticized countries like Japan and South Korea for their strong xenophobic sentiments and policies when even their own countries (especially the US) still experience consistent racial profiling and stereotypes to this day.

It would be especially great to know what those, who have good friends of other races or experienced a different culture, think about this.

So in context of the entire scope of human history, when did racism begin?

No; lots of murders; rapist ;
child predators who have no concern about what race. Few people overall have really seen or experienced evil especially in western world. Just has few have suffered hunger like many places in the world to where mothers see their children's stomachs start to swell and even them eat at that point is dangerous.

You can't legislate what people think...you can make laws against what they might say, but thinking is another matter. I think we need to get over this...and move on. We have laws to make it illegal to treat anyone differently because of race or sex, or whatever.....you cannot legislate this!

No it is the greed for money and the innate desire for man to prevent others from sharing his/her good fortune.

The world we see today reflects all of our humanity. Much is ugly because it reflects our hearts.

The love of money is the root of all evil, not racism. But both are natural to the human soul.

No western country is as racist as Japan. Foreigners of any stripe are shunned there.

Western nations gave up whaling so there was no one for Australia to criticize except Japan. Maybe the Eskimos because I think they kept hunting whales too, but their feeble efforts didn't amount to much.

The heathens have plagued Western lands long before 9/11. They invaded the Eastern Roman empire, the Balkans, Austria, Iberia, France. All with the goal of converting Christians at sword point. Their ardor might abate at intervals, but it always rekindles. Because they refuse the true faith, they listen to the siren call of violent charismatics, summoning them to renew jihad. Just yesterday, heathens in Pakistan burned two Christians alive.

Greed is the root of all evil. Nobody was ever conquered or enslaved because of racism. These things happened because of greed. Certain groups of people saw other groups of people as being technologically and socially inferior, so they exploited them for profit.

^ I agree with that. Racisim is just the mechanism and reasoning we use to justify greed.

C'mon, the Christians did the same things from the earliest centures. And yes, I am Christian myself. Study Christian history. People have always used their religion as an excuse to kill not just people of other religions but of the "wrong" version of their own.

Sometimes religion is the excuse. Sometimes it's racism. Sometimes it's having the wrong nose (remember the Hutus and the Tutsis?) We have a flaw in our species wherein there's this drive to divide ourselves into "Us v. Them" in order to justify taking what does not belong to us.

I have trouble narrowing it down to a single factor. I think that our problem lies in human nature when it's not restrained or mitigated by cultural influences or by our own.

The Seven Deadly Sins (Call them tendencies, if you don't like the word 'sin'.)

Pride is excessive belief in one's own abilities, that interferes with the individual's recognition of the grace of God. It has been called the sin from which all others arise. Pride is also known as Vanity.
Envy is the desire for others' traits, status, abilities, or situation.
Gluttony is an inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires.
Lust is an inordinate craving for the pleasures of the body.
Anger is manifested in the individual who spurns love and opts instead for fury. It is also known as Wrath.
Greed is the desire for material wealth or gain, ignoring the realm of the spiritual. It is also called Avarice or Covetousness.
Sloth is the avoidance of physical or spiritual work.

It isn't a problem that they are our baser tendencies. The problem lies in letting them control us.
